Cataract surgery in adult eyes with short axial length

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2022
Purpose of review Cataract surgery in eyes of patients with short axial length (AL) can be technically challenging and is associated with a high risk of intra- and postoperative complications. Several technical and surgical strategies have been proposed to optimize the visual outcome and decrease the rate of surgical ...

Axial Length in Apparently Normal Pediatric Eyes

European Journal of Ophthalmology, 2013
Purpose A key issue in managing children with cataract is to determine whether the eye is of normal axial length for the age of the child. This is important in both prognostication and selection of an appropriate intraocular lens in congenital cataract cases.

Axial eye-length measurement by wavelength-shift interferometry

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 1993
A simplified noncontact measuring technique for axial eye length was developed. According to this method, the wavelength shift of a single-mode laser-diode beam that is irradiated onto the eyeball causes a phase shift in the interference fringes of reflections from the retina and the cornea.

Axial Length of Eyes with Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment

Ophthalmologica, 1993
We conducted a prospective study of 226 eyes with nontraumatic rhegmatogenous retinal detachment; we examined patient characteristics as well as changes in axial length and corneal curvature induced by scleral buckling surgery. Eyes with a round hole in lattice degeneration were characterized by axial length that was longer than that of eyes with ...
