Axial Eye Length Assessment in Silicone Oil-Filled Eyes
The Egyptian Journal of Hospital Medicine, 2017Purpose: to compare the reliability of axial eye length (AEL) measurement in silicone oil-filled phakic eyes by conventional B-scan ultrasonography through the eyelid, after a correcting factor,to partial coherence interferometry (PCI) measurement. Methods: a prospective and comparative study was performed at Al-Zahraa University Hospital clinic from (

Influence of axial length of normal eyes on PERG
Documenta Ophthalmologica, 2003The influence of the axial length (AL) of the eye on flash electroretinogram (ERG) responses has been well established in the literature, suggesting an association between ERG abnormalities with myopia (AL > 25 mm). The aim of our present study was to determine whether the AL of normal eyes can also influence the pattern electroretinogram (PERG) on ...

Interocular Axial Length Difference in Eyes With Pediatric Cataracts
Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, 2005We sought to report interocular axial length difference (IALD) between the operated eye and fellow eye at the time of pediatric cataract surgery.A retrospective analysis of 171 cataractous (operated) eyes (mean patient age at surgery, 56.9 months; range, 0.2-230.0) was undertaken.

Ultrasound axial length measurement in biphakic eyes
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2003To determine the calculations to correct the error in ultrasound measurement of a phakic eye with a phakic intraocular lens (IOL) (biphakic eye) to increase the accuracy of IOL power calculation should cataract surgery become necessary. Mathematical derivations were performed to calculate the error caused by a phakic IOL while measuring an eye using an

Ultrasound velocities for axial eye length measurement
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1994Since 1974, I have used individual sound velocities for each eye condition encountered for axial length measurement. The calculation results in 1,555 M/sec for the average phakic eye. A slower speed of 1,549 M/sec was found for an extremely long (30 mm) eye and a higher speed of 1,561 M/sec was noted for an extremely short (20 mm) eye.

Large coherence length swept source for axial length measurement of the eye
Applied Optics, 2009We present and demonstrate a swept source with a large coherence length using a quasi-phase continuous tuning (QPCT) technique. QPCT is a method of minimizing the phase shift per round trip with respect to the tunable filter so that the resonance of lasing becomes high, resulting in high finesse of lasing during a rapid sweep.

Axial Eye Length Evaluation Before and After Hyperopic Photorefractive Keratectomy
Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2013PURPOSE To test the accuracy of a new device (IOL Master; Carl Zeiss, Jena, Germany) in detecting axial eye length changes after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). METHODS Pre- and postoperative (1, 3, and 6 months) subjective refraction and axial eye length measurements were performed in 184 consecutive eyes that underwent PRK with the Nidek EC5000 ...

Axial length and hyperopia in eyes with retinal vein occlusions
International Ophthalmology, 1997We performed a prospective study in order to elucidate the predisposing role of axial length and hyperopia in retinal vein occlusions. The study group comprised 39 patients with unilateral central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), 50 patients with unilateral branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO), 13 patients with unilateral hemispheric retinal vein ...

Peripheral Chorioretinal Lesions and Axial Length of the Myopic Eye
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1976A study of the retinal periphery of 1,437 predominantly myopic eyes revealed a statistically significant association of four types of peripheral chorioretinal degenerations with increased axial length of the eye. These were white without pressure, pigmentary degeneration, pavingstone degeneration, and lattice degeneration. There was a tendency for both
