In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

An Axial Hydro-Kinetic Turbine for Optimum Power Extraction Using Tidal Dams [PDF]
The present paper describes analytical optimization and numerical simulation of a modern hydro-kinetic turbine. It was a tidal turbine with twin elliptic-rotors. The turbines were installed within the twin ducts inside of a tidal dam.

This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Micro gas turbine range extender : validation techniques for automotive applications [PDF]
A Micro Gas Turbine (MGT) can be considered as an alternative to the internal combustion engine as a range extender for electric vehicles. The MGT produces less raw exhaust gaseous emissions such as HC and CO in aerospace and static applications compared

This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...

Researches on Axial Flow Turbines
Ordinary, we research the characteristics of turbine blades with cascade tunnel, but we cannot expect from those researches the characteristics of turbine blades at moving state. Then, it is necessary to carry actual turbine testings to know the dynamical characteristics of turbine blades.

Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Waveguide Photoactuators: Materials, Fabrication, and Applications
Waveguide photoactuators convert guided light into mechanical motion. Their tethered‐flexible design enables minimally invasive surgery and confined‐space robotics. This review aims to guide materials selection, device design, and system integration, accelerating the transition of waveguide photoactuators from laboratory prototypes to versatile ...

The Application of Non-Axisymmetric Endwall Contouring in a 1½ Stage, Rotating Turbine [PDF]
Today gas turbines are a crucial part of the global power generation and aviation industries. Small improvements to the efficiencies of individual components within the gas flow path can, over time, lead to dramatic cost savings for the operator and at ...
