Techno-Economic Analysis of Gas Turbine Compressor Washing to Combat Fouling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Among the major deterioration problems a gas turbine encountered while in operation is compressor blade fouling. This is the accumulation and adhesion of dirt and sediment on the compressor blade which contributes between 70 to 85% of gas turbine ...

Simulation of wind turbine wake interaction using the vorticity transport model

open access: yes, 2010
The aerodynamic interactions that can occur within a wind farm can result in the constituent turbines generating a lower power output than would be possible if each of the turbines were operated in isolation.

Development of a Method for Enhanced Fan Representation in Gas Turbine Modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A challenge in civil aviation future propulsion systems is expected to be the integration with the airframe, coming as a result of increasing bypass ratio or above wing installations for noise mitigation. The resulting highly distorted inlet flows to the

Axial Gap Studies on the Flow Behavior and Performance of a Counter Rotating Turbine

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2020
A Counter Rotating Turbine (CRT) is an axial flow turbine with a nozzle followed by two rotors that rotate in the opposite direction of each other. Axial gap is an important parameter that affects the performance of turbine stage.

Preliminary Design Method and Performance Analysis of Small-Scale Single-Stage Axial Turbine for Supercritical CO2 Applications

open access: yesEnergies
The supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) Brayton cycle has advantages such as a compact system and high energy density. Axial turbines, the key component of the cycle, have lower rotational speeds, pressure ratios and engineering difficulties compared to ...

Axial Turbine Stage Characteristics

open access: yesNTU "KhPI" Bulletin: Power and heat engineering processes and equipment, 2018
Today the energy consumption structure requires using the turbine units of thermal power plants of a high power to regulate the energy system frequency and power that drop by 35 to 40 % of the rated load during the night time or stop. Nevertheless, turbine stages operate in a wide range of the mode variation ranging from those that exceed the nominal ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF AN AXIAL HIGH PRESSURE PARTIAL ADMISSION TURBINE

open access: yes, 2022
The transformation of the energy systems will call for new turbomachinery designs for harvesting low-grade heat. The word “low-grade” has many definitions and ranges from levels where steam is the preferred selection to very low grades where specially ...
