Mixing It Up: Inflation at Risk

open access: yesJournal of Money, Credit and Banking, EarlyView.
Abstract Understanding how risk factors shape the economic outlook is essential for guiding policy decisions. This paper develops a flexible framework that decomposes distributional risk forecasts of macro‐economic variables into underlying contributions and supports the construction of interpretable risk measures.

Informational axioms for quantum theory

open access: yes, 2012
It was recently proved that quantum theory can be derived from six axioms about information processing. Here we review these axioms, discussing various facets of their information-theoretical nature, and illustrating the general picture of quantum ...

The Evolution of Portfolio Theory Under Risk & Uncertainty: From Mean–Variance to AI‐Augmented Investing

open access: yesJournal of Economic Surveys, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article summarizes the evolution of portfolio theory from mean–variance optimization to AI‐augmented investment systems. Rather than treating portfolio models as isolated techniques, it organizes the literature as a sequence of responses to different forms of uncertainty: variance, systematic risk, expected‐return estimation error ...

On general Bayesian inference using loss functions

open access: yes, 2019
Bissiri et al. (2016) propose a framework for general Bayesian inference using loss functions which connect parameters with data, and the updated posterior distribution is characterized through a set of axioms.

Driven by risk: Understanding reference‐dependent preferences using simulated auto racing

open access: yesJournal of Risk and Insurance, EarlyView.
Abstract Using data from over 56,000 simulated auto races worldwide, we analyze risk‐taking at the margins, consistent with reference‐dependent preferences. We show that participants' risk‐taking changes when a desired intermittent outcome is presented, sometimes at the expense of a more favorable expected end state.

Sharing the surplus in games with externalities within and across issues [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider environments in which agents can cooperate on multiple issues and externalities are present both within and across issues. We propose a way to extend (Shapley) values that have been put forward to deal with externalities within issues to ...

Welfare implications of fair and accountable insurance pricing

open access: yesJournal of Risk and Insurance, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper introduces an empirical framework to evaluate the welfare implications of fair and accountable insurance pricing by modeling the complete pricing process, including demand and price optimization. Moving beyond traditional cost modeling, we analyze both discrimination‐related fairness criteria and broader regulatory constraints, such

Risk, Utility and Sensitivity to Large Losses

open access: yesMathematical Finance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Risk and utility functionals are fundamental building blocks in economics and finance. In this paper we investigate under which conditions a risk or utility functional is sensitive to the accumulation of losses in the sense that any sufficiently large multiple of a position that exposes an agent to future losses has positive risk or negative ...

Informationscientific-Axioms

open access: yes, 2019
The way of thinking is bottom up from practical experiences over decades in IT to theory (Information Sciences, Philosophy). The mental cut-set seems to be scientifically usable even historically. The usage of the term axioms is nature scientifically,
