Axle Noise Control - The IVA Propeller Shaft

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1969
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A dynamic absorber is now in production which will effectively reduce rear axle whine in automobiles. Simple construction and ease of assembly, combined with adaptability to existing drivelines, produce a low cost replacement for present axle noise control devices.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph"> ...

Control of Rear-Axle Test Stands with Decoupling Networks

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1974
A mathematical model for rear-axle test stands is represented. This model is converted into the Pcanonical structur to derive the decoupling conditions from which approximated decoupling networks are gained. The efficiency of these networks is proved by the aid of the computer model.

New steels for control arms and twist-beam axles

ATZ worldwide, 2001
High-strength steel has until now been used primarily in the area of body components. Side impact bars in particular represent a component for which high-strength steels have almost become standard, since they offer very good crash characteristics [1].

Wheelset Control Strategies for a Two-Axle Railway Vehicle

Vehicle System Dynamics, 1999
This paper studies actively controlled wheelsets for railway vehicles and explores the potential benefits from actively stabilisation and steering the wheelsets of a railway vehicle via a mechatronic approach. Two models are developed in the study for a two-axle railway vehicle, one with solid axles and the other with independently rotating wheelsets ...

Design and Control of a Passively Steered, Dual Axle Vehicle

2018
In this paper we describe the steering, suspension and control systems of the rover Zoë, a solar-powered robot designed to explore the Mars-like landscapes of the Atacama Desert in Chile. We are developing the Zoë chassis as an alternative to the traditional six-wheeled, rocker-bogie system used by Mars rovers flown in the past ten years.

Research and Application of Constant Motion Controlled by Two-Axle

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
Some devices require non-circular parts high surface quality. However, when hardening surfaces of these parts, it is important to choose specific motion control card to keep induction heating spots constant moving. Following mathematical model of constant motion, we program in the computer to control two-type movement of general induction hardening bed

Managing axle saturation for vehicle stability control with independent wheel drives

Proceedings of the 2011 American Control Conference, 2011
This paper proposes a new stability control method that quantifies and uses the level of lateral force saturation on each axle of a vehicle featuring an independent wheel drive system. The magnitude of the saturation, which can be interpreted as a slip-angle deficiency, is determined from estimated nonlinear axle lateral forces and comparisons with ...

Automated Control of Truck Drive Axle Performance Characteristics

2019
The article suggests a method for providing an efficient operation of automated devices in a truck drive axle. An automated blocking of interaxial or inter-wheel differentials eliminates any chance of power circulation occurrence or additional loading of transmission units which makes part service lives longer.

Rear axle suspensions with controlled damping on agricultural tractors

Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, 1996
Abstract The main purpose of this work is to study possibilities to improve the vibration damping capacity of a full axle suspension on an agricultural tractor by various types of controlled damping at the rear axle. In order to perform the study, a full axle suspended tractor has been modelled and its dynamics simulated in the time domain.

Solution to the problems of axle synchronization and exact positioning in a numerical control system

Automation and Remote Control, 2014
This paper considers the architecture and design specifics for the subsystems of axle synchronization and exact positioning in an open modular numerical control system. The authors present practical results of solving these problems for gear-hobbing machines and a coordinate measuring machine.
