Transport reliability on axonal cytoskeleton [PDF]

open access: possible2017 14th International Conference on Engineering of Modern Electric Systems (EMES), 2017
This paper deals with reliability schemes, and in particular with hammock networks. Inspired by the regular structure of the cytoskeleton inside axons we present one way of extending the classical (2D) hammock networks to 3D. As an introductory example, we consider and analyze here the smallest 3D hammock network. This is compared against equivalent 2D

Axonal cytoskeleton at the nodes of Ranvier

Journal of Neurocytology, 1991
The relationship between the degree of nodal narrowing and the changes in the structure of the axonal cytoskeleton was studied in 53 fibres of mouse sciatic nerve. Nodal narrowing increased with increasing fibre calibre to reach about 20% of the internodal area in the thicker fibres.
