4D Printable Formulations of Mixed Low and High Molecular Weight Liquid Crystalline Units: A Versatile Route to Functional Soft Actuators

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 47, Issue 9, 5 May 2026.
This work presents a practical approach for formulating 4D printable inks that incorporates substantial fractions of low molecular weight mesogens. By blending low molecular weight diacrylate or monoacrylate constituents with a high molecular weight main‐chain macromer, the resulting mixture proves suitable for direct ink writing, enabling mechanical ...

Constellation Plots in KNIME: An Automated Scaffold‐Based Workflow for Interactive Chemical Space Visualization

open access: yesMolecular Informatics, Volume 45, Issue 5, May 2026.
The interactive, automated scaffold‐based Constellation Plot workflow provides a high‐density visual representation of the chemical space of compound datasets with complex relationships. Chemical space analysis is extensively used in different chemistry areas, ranging from the study of natural products to drug discovery projects.

Phototriggered Morphological and Compositional Change of UGGAA Repeat RNA Foci by Photoswitchable RNA‐Binding Ligand

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 18, 27 April 2026.
We here developed a molecular tool for the optical control of UGGAA repeat RNA foci, a pathological hallmark of spinocerebellar ataxia type 31 (SCA31). The photoswitchable RNA‐binding ligand enabled reversible control of the RNA foci. UV irradiation induced the growth of the RNA foci, while subsequent visible light irradiation dissolved the structure ...

Bis(silylene)‐Mediated N═N Bond Scission of Diazo Compounds

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 18, 27 April 2026.
The carborane‐based bis(silylene) enables unprecedented N═N bond scission in diazodiarylmethanes. While xanthene‐ and aniline‐based scaffolds promote end‐on addition with partial N═N activation, the carborane‐based variant uniquely achieves complete N═N bond scission of Ar2C═N═N compounds, resulting in isolable disilicon nitride imino species.

Light‐Modulated Humidity Sensing in Spiropyran Functionalized MoS2 Transistors

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 25, 4 May 2026.
A hybrid material combining molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and spiropyran for humidity and light responsiveness is developed. Ultraviolete (UV) irradiation tunes the wettability of MoS2 decorated by spiropyran, enhancing the humidity sensitivity. Water adsorption and photochromic doping significantly alter the optoelectronic properties of MoS2 flakes ...
