Effect of an indigenous AM and PGPR combination on chilli growth and productivity in lateritic soil
Infertile lateritic soil is particularly deficient in phosphorus (P) and Nitrogen (N). Arbuscular Mycorrhiza (AM) has a key role to uptake bound P from the soil and provide to the plants growing under P-poor conditions and improve water and nutrient ...

Multiple chromosomes of Azotobacter vinelandii [PDF]
The number of copies of the genes leuB, nifH, nifD, and nifK per cell of Azotobacter vinelandii has been determined to be about 80. A beta-lactamase gene was integrated into the A. vinelandii chromosome by single-point crossover. Subsequently, we have been able to detect nearly 80 copies of this beta-lactamase gene per cell of A.

Biological N2 fixation by nitrogenase offers a sustainable alternative to the Haber–Bosch process. Heterologous nitrogenase production in Escherichia coli is a promising strategy. We engineered E. coli with nitrogen fixation (nif) operons from diazotrophic Paenibacillus species.

Cross‐Feeding of Carbon and Nitrogen Between Aquificales and Thermus in Hot Springs
Pampinifervens and Thermus populations are co‐distributed in hot springs in Yellowstone and Iceland. Genome reconstruction suggests Pampinifervens Flu05 cross feeds Thermus organic carbon and nitrogen, a phenomenon that was verified via co‐culture studies.

Methylosinus trichosporium OB3b can grow on methanol in the absence but not presence of copper due: (1) overgeneration of reducing power from methanol oxidation; (2) formate accumulation leading to acidification of the growth medium and inactivation of formate dehydrogenase; and (3) lack of expression of potential oxidative stress defence genes ...
