Azurin synthesis from pseudomonas aeruginosa MTCC 2453, properties, induction of reactive oxygen species and p53 stimulated apoptosis in breast carcinoma cells [PDF]
Breast cancers are usually treated with surgery and radiation excretes adverse effects. Azurin, a potent anticancer redox protein secreted by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P.

The Role of Metal Ions in the Electron Transport through Azurin-Based Junctions
We studied the coherent electron transport through metal–protein–metal junctions based on a blue copper azurin, in which the copper ion was replaced by three different metal ions (Co, Ni and Zn).

Cu+/Ag+ Competition in Type I Copper Proteins (T1Cu)
Due to the similarity in the basic coordination behavior of their mono-charged cations, silver biochemistry is known to be linked to that of copper in biological systems.

Metal coordination of azurin in the unfolded state [PDF]
1H NMR data applied to the paramagnetic cobalt(II) derivative of azurin from Pseudomonas aeruginosa have made it possible to show that the metal ion is bound to the protein in the unfolded state. The relaxation data as well as the low magnetic anisotropy of the metal ion indicate that the cobalt ion is tetrahedral in the unfolded form.

Cross-talk between cancer and Pseudomonas aeruginosa mediates tumor suppression
A bidirectional interaction between Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) bacteria and cancerous tumors results in an anti-tumor effect; cancer cells stimulate PA-secretion of azurin which promotes tumor cell production of aldolase A.

Azurin: A Copper Protein Found in Bordetella [PDF]
SUMMARY: All strains of Bordetella pertussis, B. bronchiseptica and B. parapertussis tested, were found to contain a blue protein; this has been named ‘Azurin’. It has been extracted from the cells of all three species and it has also been isolated from culture supernatant fluids of B. pertussis.

Effects of Sucrose on the Internal Dynamics of Azurin [PDF]
Sucrose is a natural osmolyte accumulated in cells of organisms as they adapt to environmental stresses. In vitro, sucrose increases protein stability and forces partially unfolded structures to refold. Its effects on the native fold structure and dynamics are not fully established.
