Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Hydrogen Storage with Aluminum Formate, ALF: Experimental, Computational, and Technoeconomic Studies [PDF]

open access: yesStructural Dynamics
Long-duration storage of hydrogen is necessary for coupling renewable H2 with stationary fuel cell power applications. In this presentation, I will discuss how aluminum formate, Al(HCOO)3 (ALF), which adopts an ReO3-type structure, is shown to have ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

A case study on the flexural behaviour of sustainable recycled lump-aggregate concrete precast beams using inclined-crossed stirrups

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Recycled lump-aggregate concrete (RLAC) is produced by combining large-scale recycled lumps (RLs) with newly mixed recycled aggregate concrete, serving as a new type of construction material for effectively recycling construction and demolition waste.
