Charge transport in B-carotene

Journal of Biological Physics, 1977
The absorption currents in the ‘cis-trans’ isomeric forms of β-carotene glass were studied over a wide range of temperature and field. Limited observations of the absorption currents were also made with different sample thicknesses and electrode materials. The results indicate that the low temperature absorption current (

Different roles for B-carotene and vitamin A in the reproduction on rabbits

Theriogenology, 1996
Abstract β-carotene is thought to have a positive effect on reproduction independent of its role as a vitamin A precursor. The effect of β-carotene related to vitamin A in rabbit fertility was examined in 2 independent experiments. All rabbits received sufficient dietary vitamin A.

Degradation of B-Carotene by microorganisms

1980
In the present study, decomposition of g-carotene by soil microorganisms, comprising bacteria, yeasts, and molds, was investigated aerobically at 28°C. The B-carotene was dissolved in ethyl alcohol and was used in a mineral salt solution at the levels of 0.04 and 0.08% (W/V).
