Simultaneous Analysis of Codeine, Morphine, and Heroin After B-Glucuronidase Hydrolysis
Journal of Forensic Sciences, 1993Abstract Analysis of the opiates, morphine and codeine, often proceeds by way of acid hydrolysis for release of the parent morphine from its glucuronide formed during metabolism. Following use, heroin is rapidly deacetylated to 6-monoacetylmorphine (6-MAM), which can be detected in the urine for a short time following injection of heroin.

β-Glucuronidase and Tissue Damage
Nature, 1947After repeated feeding of menthol to mice, Fishman1 obtained results which on statistical examination showed an increase in β-glucuronidase in liver, spleen and kidney as compared with organs from untreated animals. Similar results were obtained in dogs fed with borneol.

Use of B-Glucuronidase (GUS) as a Marker for Transformation in Sugarbeet
Journal of Sugarbeet Research, 1993Accurate detection of a genetic or biochemical marker introduced into sugarbeet (Beta vulgarjs L.) is based on the absence of native sequences or activities in the plant that could confound the analysis of expression of the introduced marke r. During the course of experiments designed to optimize DNA transfer from Agrobacterjum tumef aciens to ...

B-glucuronidase in duodenal secretions.
The American journal of gastroenterology, 1976Determination of B-glucuronidase activity was carried out in 203 subjects including 60 controls. A modified technic for assaying B-glucuronidase activity was used that employs glass column chromatography and Sephadex. Although the lowest mean value was in the group of patients with cancer of the pancreas, there was wide range of activity of B ...

Transient Expression of B-Glucuronidase and Luciferase in Electroporated Conifer Protoplasts
1991Suspension-derived protoplasts of Monterey pine (Pinus radiata Don.) and Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco) were electroporated with the B-glucuronidase (GUS) and firefly luciferase reporter genes driven by the 35S-cauliflower mosaic virus promoter. Low levels of transient expression were obtained using the GUS reporter gene and maximal

Urinary glucuronide metabolites of the benzodiazepines were converted back to the parent molecules after treatment with B-glucuronidase. The benzodiazepines were extracted by a one-step liquid/liquid extraction from urine or by a liquid/solid phase extraction.

Abstract Oxamniquine therapy was accompanied by an elevation in B-glucuronidase enzyme activity in liver, spleen, kidney and bladder tissue homogenates of both controls and S. mansoni infected mice. This increase in enzyme activity is characterized by the observations that: (a) in control animals the effect on liver and bladder was more prolonged ...

SummaryWe report for the first time conditions for the biolistic transformation of broccoli. Efficient transient expression of the b-glucuronidase (gus) gene has been obtained following transformation of broccoli cv. Marathon F1 (Brassica oleracea var. italica) cotyledons via microparticle bombardment.

Cytochemically demonstrable B-glucuronidase activity in normal and neoplastic human lymphoid cells.
Blood, 1981Mononuclear cell suspensions were prepared from 40 normal peripheral blood and lymphoid tissue specimens and 42 neoplastic specimens obtained from patients with malignant lymphoma and lymphocytic leukemia. These suspensions were analyzed for la antigens, surface immunoglobulin (Slg), sheep erythrocyte (E) rosette formation and, in some instances, acid ...
