Cryo‐EM structure of GH43 β‐Xylosidase from Enterobacter cloacae provides insights into substrate specificity and the role of an auxiliary domain in enzymatic activity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Xylan, the second most abundant plant cell wall polysaccharide, is degraded by β‐xylanases and β‐xylosidases. Here, we present the 2.65 Å cryo‐EM structure of Enterobacter cloacae β‐xylosidase (EcXyl43, GH43) and the 2.4 Å X‐ray structure of its inactive F507A mutant.

OsCPN10a, cooperating with OsCPN20 and OsHSP60‐3B negatively regulate ABA signaling and enhance seed storability in rice

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Abscisic acid signaling homeostasis is essential for seed storability. The molecular chaperone OsCPN10a enhances rice seed storability by forming a trimeric chaperone complex with OsCPN20‐OsHSP60‐3B that attenuates abscisic acid signaling via direct interaction with OsPYL10‐OsABIL1, thereby maintaining starch integrity and offering a promising target ...

Chemical Constituents from the Roots and Rhizomes of Asarum heterotropoides var. mandshuricum and the In Vitro Anti-Inflammatory Activity

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
Anti-inflammatory compounds were investigated from the ethanol extract of the roots and rhizomes of Asarum heterotropoides var. mandshuricum, a traditional Chinese medicine called Xixin and used for pain and inflammatory. Nine new compounds were isolated,

SIB1‐SEC23A undergo ER to chloroplast relocalization to mediate immunity in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
SEC23A mediates membrane trafficking between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and Golgi apparatus and interacts with the immunity protein SIGMA FACTOR‐BINDING PROTEIN1 in Arabidopsis. Under stress, both proteins relocate from the ER to chloroplasts, suppressing photosynthesis genes and enhancing defense genes.

Murine immune responses to a Plasmodium vivax-derived chimeric recombinant protein expressed in Brassica napus

open access: yesMalaria Journal, 2011
Background To develop a plant-based vaccine against Plasmodium vivax, two P. vivax candidate proteins were chosen. First, the merozoite surface protein-1 (MSP-1), a major asexual blood stage antigen that is currently considered a strong vaccine candidate.

Arabidopsis inositol polyphosphate kinase activities regulate COP9 deneddylation functions in phosphate homeostasis

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Plant phosphate (Pi) homeostasis relies on coordinated activities of the inositol polyphosphate kinases IPK1 and ITPK1, which balance localized InsP7 biosynthesis to control COP9 signalosome (CSN)‐dependent deneddylation of cullin 1 (CUL1). Perturbation of this equilibrium affects the stability of SPX4, a key negative regulator of phosphate starvation ...

Dodder seedlings benefit from apoplastic nutrition by inducing SWEET15‐mediated unloading of sucrose from the host's phloem

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Cuscuta reflexa infection sites. Summary Cuscuta species are holoparasitic plants that penetrate host stems with haustoria, connect to the vasculature and exhaust water, nutrients and carbohydrates. Parasite seedlings possess only limited maternal reserves and the development of a vascular connection takes several days.

Silencing and Heterologous Expression of ppo-2 Indicate a Specific Function of a Single Polyphenol Oxidase Isoform in Resistance of Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) Against Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2012
Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) possesses an unusually high degree of disease resistance. As this plant exhibits high polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity and PPO have been implicated in resistance against pests and pathogens, we analyzed the potential ...
