Functional networks for B-spline surface reconstruction

Future Generation Computer Systems, 2004
Recently, a new extension of the standard neural networks, the so-called functional networks, has been described [E. Castillo, Functional networks, Neural Process. Lett. 7 (1998) 151-159]. This approach has been successfully applied to the reconstruction of a surface from a given set of 3D data points assumed to lie on unknown Bezier [A.

B-spline surfaces for ship hull design

ACM SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics, 1980
The use of true sculptured surface descriptions for design applications has been proposed by numerous authors. The actual implementation and use of interactive sculptured surface description techniques for design and production has been limited. The use of such techniques for ship hull design has been even more limited.

A parallel B-spline surface fitting algorithm

ACM Transactions on Graphics, 1988
A parallel fitting algorithm using uniform bicubic B-spline surfaces is presented. This algorithm is based on the observation that a tensor product spline surface fitting problem can be split into two spline curve fitting problems, and each of these problems can be carried out in parallel by cyclic reduction.

B-Spline Surfaces: A Tool for Computer Painting

IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 1985
B-splines make it possible to model shapes the way a sculptor models clay or plasticine, and their control points can be modified for a variety of effects.

Analytical Simulation of B-Spline Surfaces Deformation

2008
In this paper an analytic solution of an evolution model is proposed in order to deform B-splines parametric surfaces. The deformation model is based on an associated energy functional to one surface and its variational formulation is introduced. After some simplifications including assumptions regarding the mass and damping matrices and taking into ...

G1 Blending B-Spline Surfaces and Optimization

2008
Recently, some results on G 1 continuity conditions for two adjacent B-spline surfaces such as bicubic or biquartic B-spline surfaces have been developed in the literature. However, the blending and the optimization problems related to these surfaces were not studied.

Meshless Parameterization and B-Spline Surface Approximation

2000
This paper proposes a method for approximating unorganized points in R3 with smooth B-spline surfaces. The method involves: meshless parameterization; triangulation; shape-preserving reparameterization; and least squares spline approximation.

Cross-sectional design of B-spline surfaces

Computers & Graphics, 1987
Abstract A theory for cross-sectional design of B-spline surfaces for CAD is described in this paper. The surface construction methods given include skinning, sweeping, swinging and interpolation, along with means of interaction. The methods are demonstrated with the CUBES free-form modeling system.
