B-type natriuretic peptide in cardiovascular disease

Lancet, The, 2003
Natriuretic peptide hormones, a family of vasoactive peptides with many favourable physiological properties, have emerged as important candidates for development of diagnostic tools and therapeutic agents in cardiovascular disease. The rapid incorporation into clinical practice of bioassays to measure natriuretic peptide concentrations, and drugs that ...

B-type natriuretic peptide in pediatrics

Clinical Biochemistry, 2006
There has been growing interest in the use of serum B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and the N-terminal segment of its pro-hormone (NT-proBNP) as biomarkers for cardiac disease. The aim of this review is to summarize the current state of knowledge regarding BNP and NT-proBNP measurement in the pediatric population.A computerized literature search on ...

Bradycardia and B-type natriuretic peptide

International Journal of Cardiology, 2009
Bradycardia and loss of atrioventricular synchrony can result in increased natriuretic peptide secretion due to increased cardiac wall tension. Antihypertensive beta-blocker therapy has been shown to cause elevated natriuretic peptide levels, as well as to increase the frequency of atrial fibrillation in hypertensive patients.

B-Type Natriuretic Peptide

A & A Case Reports, 2013
We present 2 cases of patients with septic shock and discuss changes in B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels. While previous increases in BNP in septic shock were attributed to the accompanying myocardial depression, recent work claims that high levels of BNP in sepsis are related to an alteration in the BNP clearance pathway.

Clinical applications of B-type natriuretic peptides

Trends in Endocrinology & Metabolism, 2004
Diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic applications of B-type natriuretic peptides (NPs) will probably become part of routine management of heart failure within five years. Cardiac release of NPs rises with increasing cardiac dysfunction. Their secretion and plasma levels respond to intracardiac distending pressures, with other modulating influences ...

Utility of B-type natriuretic peptide in children

Orvosi Hetilap, 2007
A natriuretikus peptid mérés kamra diszfunkciót jelző szerepe már bizonyítást nyert, felnőttkori alkalmazásáról már hazánkban is beszámoltak. Célunk volt a gyermekkori BNP vizsgálataink klinikai szerepének felmérése, melyet 107 gyermekben történt 157 mérés adatai alapján értékeltünk, szisztémás jobb kamra, illetve bal kamra funkció megítélésére ...
