By using the results of seven carbon substrate assimilation tests from the Biotype 100 system (bioMérieux, Marcy-l'Etoile, France), we correctly identified 79 (85.9%) of 92 Brucella strains tested. The specificity of the method varied from 97.4 to 100% depending on the species.

An Investigation on the Production of B. Abortus Aggressin
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1927Investigations concerning means of active immunization of cattle against infectious abortion have centered chiefly about the use of bacterins and of vaccines derived from cultures of B. abortus; these products have proved to possess some antigenic value. Bacterial extracts and metabolic products, per se, of B.

Morphogenetic disturbances in a spontaneous abortus with trisomy B
Humangenetik, 1974Macro- and microscopic changes in a spontaneous abortus at 7 weeks of menstrual age are described in which a karyotype 47,XY,B5+was found. There were hypoplasia of amniotic cavity, abnormal connection of amnion to the embryo body, disturbed topographic position of the embryo in the embryo membrane, lack of internal organ rudiments, hypoplasiy of the ...

Vaccine, 2016
In this study, we explored possibility of increasing the protective efficacy of our novel influenza viral vector based B. abortus vaccine (Flu-BA) in pregnant heifers by adapting an innovative method of vaccine delivery. We administered the vaccine concurrently via the conjunctival and subcutaneous routes to pregnant heifers, and these routes were ...

Molecular Immunology, 2016
In this study, the immunogenicity and protective efficacy of recombinant proteins Omp19 (rO) and P39 (rP) from Brucella abortus were evaluated individually and compared with the cocktail protein (rO+rP) against B. abortus 544 and Brucella melitensis 16M infection in BALB/c mouse model.

SUMMARY Groups of female calves were vaccinated subcutaneously with the standard dose of Brucella abortus strain 19 (S19) or with B. abortus 45/20 (S45/20). These calves and non‐vaccinated control calves were mated at 15 months of age and challenged by way of the conjunctival sac with B. abortus strain 544 (S544). The incidence of abortion, stillbirths,

Analysis and in vivo assay of B. abortus agglutinating and non-agglutinating antibodies
Veterinary Microbiology, 1984Studies were made of physicochemical and immunochemical characteristics of Brucella abortus agglutinating and non-agglutinating antibodies in the sera of cattle repeatedly injected with living B. abortus (Strain 1119). Both agglutinating and non-agglutinating antibody were shown to be IgG1, and by immunodiffusion against rabbit anti-cattle gamma ...
