Double electron capture in 156Dy, 162Er and 168Yb [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The double electron capture half-lives of 156Dy, 162Er and 168Yb are evaluated using the pseudo SU(3) model, which describes ground and excited bands as well as their B(E2) and B(M1) transition strengths in remarkable agreement with experiment.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Abrupt phase change of the core rotation in the 143Sm nucleus

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2018
Dipole sequences in the 143Sm nucleus have been investigated via the 124Sn (24Mg, 5n) reaction at Elab = 107 MeV using the Indian National Gamma Array (INGA).

Three-body model calculations for 16C nucleus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We apply a three-body model consisting of two valence neutrons and the core nucleus $^{14}$C in order to investigate the ground state properties and the electronic quadrupole transition of the $^{16}$C nucleus. The discretized continuum spectrum within a

Identification of Functional Determinants in the Chikungunya Virus E2 Protein

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2017
Background Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-transmitted alphavirus that causes high fever, rash, and recurrent arthritis in humans. It has efficiently adapted to Aedes albopictus, which also inhabits temperate regions, including Europe and the ...

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Characterization of a Lipoyl Domain-Independent B-Cell Autoepitope on the Human Branched-Chain Acyltransferase in Primary Biliary Cirrhosis and Overlap Syndrome with Autoimmune Hepatitis

open access: yesClinical and Developmental Immunology, 2003
Background and aims: Antimitochondrial antibodies (AMA) which recognize pyruvate acetyltransferase (PDC-E2) represent a highly diagnostic feature of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).

ICI 182,780 has agonistic effects and synergizes with estradiol-17 beta in fish liver, but not in testis

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2006
Background ICI 182,780 (ICI) belongs to a new class of antiestrogens developed to be pure estrogen antagonists and, in addition to its therapeutic use, it has been used to knock-out estrogen and estrogen receptor (ER) actions in several mammalian species.

Applying Nuclear Shell Model to Study Nuclear Structure for 18Ne by Using OXBASH Code

open access: yesJournal of Kufa-Physics, 2020
In this study, the shell model used to calculate energy levels and reduced electric quadruple transition probability B(E2)  for 18Ne isotope using OXBASH code within the sd shell and using the KUOSD effective interaction.18Ne isotope contain two proton ...

Identifying the Role of E2 Domains on Alphavirus Neutralization and Protective Immune Responses. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2015
Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) and other alphaviruses are the etiologic agents of numerous diseases in both humans and animals. Despite this, the viral mediators of protective immunity against alphaviruses are poorly understood, highlighted by the lack of a ...
