From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Combined Application of 17𝛽-Estradiol and Progesterone Enhance Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Surfactant Protein Expression in Cultured Embryonic Lung Cells of Mice

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pediatrics, 2009
Preterm delivery is associated with disruption of the placental supply with 17𝛽-estradiol (E2) and progesterone (P). The aim is to evaluate the role of E2 and P on the regulation of key proteins in lung development in embryonic lung cells.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

The pharmacokinetic-nephrotoxicity relationships of CMS and CMS-E2 from the perspective of plasma and kidney drug concentrations in rats

open access: yesScientific Reports
Nephrotoxicity has seriously affected the clinical application of colistin methanesulphonate (CMS). Colistin B methanesulphonate (CMS-E2) is a novel polymyxin developed and aimed to have lower nephrotoxicity.

Infection with chikungunya virus confers heterotypic cross-neutralizing antibodies and memory B-cells against other arthritogenic alphaviruses predominantly through the B domain of the E2 glycoprotein.

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2023
Infections with Chikungunya virus, a mosquito-borne alphavirus, cause an acute febrile syndrome often followed by chronic arthritis that persists for months to years post-infection.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Of these, the upstream promoter was activated by E2 in 25 genes (A), and was inactivated by E2 in 61 cases (B)

open access: yes, 2011
The downstream promoter was activated by E2 treatment in 62 cases (C), and inactivated by E2 in 64 cases (D).Copyright information:Taken from "Genome-wide analysis of alternative promoters of human genes using a custom promoter tiling array"http://www ...

The fanconi anemia DNA repair pathway is regulated by an interaction between ubiquitin and the E2-like fold domain of FANCL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The Fanconi Anemia (FA) DNA repair pathway is essential for the recognition and repair of DNA interstrand crosslinks (ICL). Inefficient repair of these ICL can lead to leukemia and bone marrow failure.

Inhibition of cyclin‐dependent kinases 12/13 using CT7439 as a treatment for colorectal cancer with CDK12 upregulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The proposed mechanism of action for the CDK12/13 inhibitor and cyclin K degrader, CT7439. CDK12/13 inhibition interrupts transcription elongation, leading to increased DNA damage that results in cell death. This agent is a potentially novel treatment option for patients with colorectal cancer. Created in BioRender. Cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK) 12 and

Large collectivity in 29Ne at the boundary of the island of inversion

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2023
The heavy-ion inelastic scattering of the neutron-rich nucleus 29Ne to its excited states was studied using a 100.1 MeV/u 29Ne rare isotope beam on 181Ta and 9Be targets. The combined setup consisting of the GRETINA array, the TRIPLEX device and the S800
