Bacillaceae -derived peptide antibiotics since 2000

Peptides, 2018
Members of the Bacillaceae family, including Bacillus spp., Brevibacillus spp., Paenibacillus spp., Aneurinibacillus sp., and Halobacillus sp., are an important source of structurally diverse classes of short peptides of ∼ 30 residues or fewer possessing peculiar and rapid killing activity against various pathogens.

Comparative immunological and electrophoretic studies on ribosomal proteins of Bacillaceae

Molecular and General Genetics MGG, 1973
The ribosomal proteins from several Bacillus species were compared by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and immunological methods. The results revealed great heterogeneity among most Bacillus species. Comparison of ribosomal proteins from Bacilli with those of E. coli by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis showed little similarities, while structural

Correspondence analysis of amino acid usage within the family Bacillaceae

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2004
When the amino acid usage of all completely sequenced prokaryotes is studied by multivariate analysis (MVA), it is known that the genomic molar content of guanine plus cytosine (GC) and optimal growth temperature (Topt) have a dominant effect. Furthermore, these two factors are associated to the first two axes of different MVA, and thus, nearly ...

Biological Activity of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bacillales: Bacillaceae) in Anastrepha fraterculus (Diptera: Tephritidae)

Journal of Economic Entomology, 2018
Anastrepha fraterculus (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae) is considered to be one of the major pest insects in fruit orchards worldwide. Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner (Bacillales: Bacillaceae) strains are widely used as biological control agents and show high biological activity against different insect species.

Genetic organization of chromosomal S-layer glycan biosynthesis loci of Bacillaceae

Glycoconjugate Journal, 2003
S-layer glycoproteins are cell surface glycoconjugates that have been identified in archaea and in bacteria. Usually, S-layer glycoproteins assemble into regular, crystalline arrays covering the entire bacterium. Our research focuses on thermophilic Bacillaceae, which are considered a suitable model system for studying bacterial glycosylation.

Aidingibacillus halophilus gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel member of the family Bacillaceae

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 2017
A Gram-positive, non-motile, asporogenous and aerobic bacterium, designated YIM 98012T, was isolated from a salt lake in China. Strain YIM 98012T was found to be catalase and oxidase positive. Optimal growth of strain YIM 98012T was observed at 37 °C and pH 7.0 and it was found to grow in the presence of 5-20% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 10% NaCl ...

Jilinibacillus soli gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel member of the family Bacillaceae

Archives of Microbiology, 2014
A Gram-positive, aerobic, rod-shaped, motile, endospore-forming bacterium, designated strain A12(T), was isolated from a saline and alkali soil samples in Baicheng City, western of Jilin Province, China. Growth occurred in 15-45 °C (optimum, 30 °C) and at pH 7.0-11.5 (optimum, pH 9.0) and in the presence of 0-10 % (w/v) NaCl [optimum, 1-3 % (w/v) NaCl].
