Fluorescent amplified fragment length polymorphism analysis of Bacillus anthracis, Bacillus cereus, and Bacillus thuringiensis isolates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
DNA from over 300 Bacillus thuringiensis, Bacillus cereus, and Bacillus anthracis isolates was analyzed by fluorescent amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP). B. thuringiensis and B.

Isoelectric Focusing Fractionation Method for Signal Enhancement in Detection of Inactivated Biological Agents Using Matrix‐Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, Volume 46, Issue 3-4, Page 212-220, February 2025.
ABSTRACT Timely identification of highly pathogenic bacteria is crucial for efficient mitigation of the connected harmful health effects. Matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (MALDI‐TOF MS) of intact cells enables fast identification of the microorganisms based on their mass spectrometry protein fingerprint ...

Structures of Sortase B from Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus anthracis Reveal Catalytic Amino Acid Triad in the Active Site [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Surface proteins attached by sortases to the cell wall envelope of bacterial pathogens play important roles during infection. Sorting and attachment of these proteins is directed by C-terminal signals. Sortase B of S.

Quorum Sensing: Not Just a Bridge Between Bacteria

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 14, Issue 1, February 2025.
Quorum quenching and quorum sensing inhibitors show significant potential in regulating bacterial quorum sensing systems and have been widely applied across various fields, including cancer treatment, antimicrobial resistance, marine management, microplastic reduction, hydrogel technology, and nanomaterials development.

A Simplified Van Erth Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) Typing Method of Bacillus Anthracis Applicable by Traditional Thermocycler Machines

open access: yesMedical Laboratory Journal, 2015
SNP typing is now a well-established genotyping system in Bacillus anthracis studies. In the original standard method of Van Erth, SNPs at 13 loci of the B. anthracis genome were analyzed.

Genome sequence of Bacillus cereus and comparative analysis with Bacillus anthracis

open access: yesNature, 2003
Bacillus cereus is an opportunistic pathogen causing food poisoning manifested by diarrhoeal or emetic syndromes. It is closely related to the animal and human pathogen Bacillus anthracis and the insect pathogen Bacillus thuringiensis, the former being ...

Weak solutions for a bioconvection model related to Bacillus subtilis [PDF]

open access: yesCommun. Math. Sci. 12 (2014) 545-563, 2012
We consider the initial-boundary value problem for the coupled Navier-Stokes-Keller-Segel-Fisher-Kolmogorov-Petrovskii-Piskunov system in two- and three-dimensional domains. The problem describes oxytaxis and growth of Bacillus subtilis in moving water. We prove existence of global weak solutions to the problem.

A Low Dimensional Approximation For Competence In Bacillus Subtilis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The behaviour of a high dimensional stochastic system described by a Chemical Master Equation (CME) depends on many parameters, rendering explicit simulation an inefficient method for exploring the properties of such models. Capturing their behaviour by low-dimensional models makes analysis of system behaviour tractable.

A Single-Dose PLGA Encapsulated Protective Antigen Domain 4 Nanoformulation Protects Mice against Bacillus anthracis Spore Challenge

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Bacillus anthracis, the etiological agent of anthrax, is a major bioterror agent. Vaccination is the most effective prophylactic measure available against anthrax. Currently available anthrax vaccines have issues of the multiple booster dose requirement,
