N‐acetylglucosamine sensing in the filamentous soil fungus Trichoderma reesei

N‐acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) is involved in diverse signaling pathways in dimorphic yeasts and bacteria, including virulence and cell death. Here, we investigated GlcNAc sensing in Trichoderma reesei. GlcNAc signaling influences around 2100 genes in this filamentous soil fungus.

The effects of caffeine and adenosine on the microbiome and lipidome of the scalp

At 12 weeks, anti‐hair loss effects were evident with decreased Pseudomonas, Escherichia‐Shigella and Malassezia and increased Talaromyces and Cutibacterium. Lipid levels were impacted, correlating with Escherichia‐Shigella and Talaromyces. Abstract Hair loss is a complex multifactorial process.

Abstract Conventional optical microscopy imaging of obligate intracellular bacteria is hampered by the small size of bacterial cells, tight clustering exhibited by some bacterial species and challenges relating to labelling such as background from host cells, a lack of validated reagents, and a lack of tools for genetic manipulation.
