Number and mode of inheritance of QTL influencing backfat thickness on SSC2p in Sino-European pig pedigrees [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background In the pig, multiple QTL associated with growth and fatness traits have been mapped to chromosome 2 (SSC2) and among these, at least one shows paternal expression due to the IGF2-intron3-G3072A substitution. Previously published results on the

PENGARUH MUTASI PADA GEN LEPTIN TERHADAP TEBAL LEMAK PUNGGUNG DAN SKOR KONDISI TUBUH PADA SAPI PERANAKAN ONGOLE

open access: yesZiraa'ah: Majalah Ilmiah Pertanian, 2021
Mutation on leptin gene affect leptin function as  one of the hormones  which contribute to body fat deposition.  This research aims to determine the effect of R25C and R25H mutations on the leptin gene toward  back fat thickness and Body Condition Score

Oxidative Stress and Inflammation in Sows with Excess Backfat: Up-Regulated Cytokine Expression and Elevated Oxidative Stress Biomarkers in Placenta

open access: yesAnimals, 2019
In sows, excess backfat during late gestation is associated with increased farrowing difficulties and influences the fetus, but the impact of backfat thickness on placental inflammation, oxidative stress, and vascular development has not been defined. In

Determination of backfat thickness with transrectal ultrasonography in cattle

open access: yesJournal of Advances in VetBio Science and Techniques, 2019
The purpose of this study is to determine the Body Condition Score (BCS), which is subjectively measured in dairy cattle with inspection and palpation of backfat thickness, objectively by using transrectal ultrasonography examination method after delivery.

Relationship of Backfat Thickness to Reproductive Performance of Gilts

open access: yesNihon Chikusan Gakkaiho, 1975

Comparison of ultrasonographic measurement of backfat thickness with combined measurement of backfat-muscle thickness as a measure for body condition assessment of dairy cows

open access: yes, 2022
Ziel der Arbeit war es, die Methode der Rückenfettmuskeldickenmessung (RFMD) in Bezug zu den wissenschaftlich anerkannten Methoden zur Beurteilung der Körperkondition von Milchkühen zu setzen.

Detection of quantitative trait loci for growth and fatness in pigs

open access: yesGenetics Selection Evolution, 2001
A quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis of growth and fatness data from a three-generation experimental cross between Meishan (MS) and Large White (LW) pig breeds is presented.

Effect of PPARGC-1 gene on backfat thickness in pigs

open access: yesActa agriculturae Slovenica, 2006
PPARGC-1 gene is assumed to be a candidate gene with a major effect on fatness and meat quality. In this study, frequency of T/A substitution at position 1378 in PPARGC-1 gene in pigs was examined in boars of 4 different breeds. Frequency of genotypes and alleles were compared between animals with the thinnest and with the thickest backfat. Differences

Resource-Efficient Classification and Early Predictions of Carcass Composition in Fattening Pigs by Means of Ultrasound Examinations

open access: yesAgriculture, 2020
The development of the backfat thickness of fattening pigs in relation to their weight allows first conclusions to be drawn concerning the efficiency of individual growth and classification of the carcass.
