INSTALLING BACKFLOW PREVENTERS
Journal AWWA, 1970The author comments on Mr. William E. West's article entitiled “Auxiliary Water Supplies and Cross‐ Connection Control”, published in the August 1969 Journal AWWA issue (pp. 401‐402). He expresses doubt as to whether the procedures described in the “Current Procedures” section of the paper comply with the California Administrative Code.

Urinomas secondary to pyelosinus backflow
Urologic radiology, 1983Pyelosinus backflow of urine usually occurs through infractions of the calyceal fornices from obstruction or retrograde study. The primary cause appears to be a rapid rise in intrapelvic pressure with the backflow representing a physiologic release mechanism which returns the intrapelvic pressure to normal.

Mechanism of Renovascular Backflow
Radiology, 1969PYELOVASCULAR backflow has been observed since the earliest days of urography. Little understood, it has been the basis for much controversy. Little clinical significance has been attributed to it. We have repeated and added to earlier work done in the investigation of pyelovascular backflow.

AIAA Journal, 1992
Introduction T URBULENT backflow regions exhibit a strong wake-like behavior down to the immediate vicinity of solid surfaces. This behavior precludes the use of the law-of-the-wall as a tool for analyzing such flow regions and dictates development of turbulence models dedicated to treating these flows.

1. The historical and experimental aspects of pyelorenal backflow are reviewed in some detail. 2. Four types of backflow may be recognised, namely pyelovenous, pyelolymphatic, pyelo-interstitial, occurring after calycinie rupture, and pyelotubular which occurs independently of rupture. 3.

Backflow Incident Sparks Improvements
Opflow, 2001Despite the strongest prevention efforts, all water distribution systems can fall victim to backflow. In 1998, the lack of a simple backflow prevention device on an Air National Guard airport firefighting truck created a potentially hazardous water contamination problem for Charlotte, North Carolina, area residents.

Backflow in Venous Cannulation
Archives of Surgery, 1984To the Editor .—The article on subclavian vein cannulation by Conces and Holden 1 was interesting and informative. However, although a comprehensive discussion was proffered, their main thrust was to promote reliance on the roentgenogram for correct catheter placement.
