Health‐Related Quality of Life and Symptom Severity Among Patients With PIK3CA‐Related Overgrowth Spectrum: A Mixed‐Methods Study to Understand Real‐World Experience With Alpelisib Treatment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background PIK3CA‐related overgrowth spectrum (PROS) includes several rare overgrowth disorders resulting from somatic gain‐of‐function mutations in PIK3CA. Despite treatment advances, including the recent approval of alpelisib for PROS in the United States, literature detailing the patient experience with PROS is limited.

Siamese Network Ensembles for Hyperspectral Target Detection with Pseudo Data Generation

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Target detection in hyperspectral images (HSIs) aims to distinguish target pixels from the background using knowledge gleaned from prior spectra. Most traditional methods are based on certain assumptions and utilize handcrafted classifiers.

Clinical and Biological Features of Response in Resistant Neuroblastoma to 131I‐Metaiodobenzylguanidine Radiotherapy in the Anti‐GD2 Immunotherapy Era

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background 131I‐metaiodobenzylguanidine (131I‐MIBG) radiotherapy is a key treatment for relapsed and refractory (R/R) neuroblastoma (NB). Patients with R/R disease treated in the modern era are increasingly exposed to anti‐GD2 immunotherapy, which exerts selective pressure and may modify both tumor cell state and microenvironment.

An Overview of Background Initialization and LaBGen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Given a video sequence captured from a static viewpoint, the stationary background initialization problem consists in generating a unique image estimating the stationary background of the sequence (i.e. the set of elements which are motionless throughout

The cosmic microwave background and the stellar initial mass function [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2018
We argue that an increased temperature in star-forming clouds alters the stellar initial mass function to be more bottom-light than in the Milky Way. At redshifts $z \gtrsim 6$, heating from the cosmic microwave background radiation produces this effect in all galaxies, and it is also present at lower redshifts in galaxies with very high star formation

Venous Thromboembolism in Pediatric Bone Sarcoma Patients: A 10‐Year, Single‐Institution Experience Encompassing the COVID‐19 Pandemic

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Osteosarcoma (OS) and Ewing sarcoma (EWS) are the most common primary bone cancers in children, but acute thrombosis is poorly characterized in this population. Our study evaluated the rates of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and associated risk factors in pediatric patients with bone sarcomas treated over a 10‐year period encompassing

Relaxing Accurate Initialization for Monocular Dynamic Scene Reconstruction with Gaussian Splatting

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Monocular dynamic scene reconstruction is a challenging task due to the inherent limitation of observing the scene from a single viewpoint at each timestamp, particularly in the presence of object motion and illumination changes.

Background initialization and foreground segmentation for bootstrapping video sequences [PDF]

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2013
In this study, an effective background initialization and foreground segmentation approach for bootstrapping video sequences is proposed. First, a modified block representation approach is used to classify each block of the current video frame into one of four categories, namely, “background,” “still object,” “illumination change,” and “moving object.”
