A Background Foreground Competitive Model for Background Subtraction in Dynamic Background

open access: yesProcedia Technology, 2016
AbstractBackground subtraction is used to remove the relatively motionless background information from video frames and to detect moving objects. Several methods have been proposed for nonparametric modelling of the background. In this paper a novel method for simultaneous non parametric modelling of background and foreground is proposed, which is ...

Leukemia and Exposure to Potential Benzene Sources in Children From the Mexico City Metropolitan Area, 2010–2021: A Geospatial Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Leukemia is the most common childhood cancer in Mexico, and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most frequent subtype. Exposure to high concentrations of benzene has been associated with ALL incidence, particularly in urban areas. This study evaluated the relationship between distance to benzene emission sources and the number

Application of Topographic Impact Horizontal Correlation Model to CMA-MESO System

open access: yes应用气象学报
The impact of near-surface observations on analysis and forecasting in complex terrain is studied by introducing the role of terrain in the background error horizontal correlation model. Observation information propagates isotropically on the model level

Robust background modelling in DIALS

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, 2016
A method for estimating the background under each reflection during integration that is robust in the presence of pixel outliers is presented. The method uses a generalized linear model approach that is more appropriate for use with Poisson distributed data than traditional approaches to pixel outlier handling in integration programs.

Psychosocial Functioning After Pediatric Bone Sarcoma: Generic and Survivor‐Specific Outcomes in Adolescent and Young Adult Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric bone sarcoma patients and survivors may experience psychosocial challenges related to childhood cancer after their intensive, body‐altering treatment. This cross‐sectional study aimed to evaluate generic and survivor‐specific psychosocial outcomes in a national cohort of pediatric bone sarcoma patients and survivors, and ...

Linear model for fast background subtraction in oligonucleotide microarrays

open access: yesAlgorithms for Molecular Biology, 2009
Background One important preprocessing step in the analysis of microarray data is background subtraction. In high-density oligonucleotide arrays this is recognized as a crucial step for the global performance of the data analysis from raw intensities to ...

Ironic Medications: A Narrative‐Based Psycho‐Educational Intervention to Explore Patient–Provider Communication in Adolescents With Haematological Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Adolescents with haematological malignancies face significant emotional and relational challenges, often accompanied by difficulties in communicating their needs within the healthcare context. To address these issues, a narrative‐based psycho‐educational intervention based on the creation and prescription of Ironic Medications was ...

A model for constraction the filds of radiation background

open access: yesВісник Харківського національного університету імені В.Н. Каразіна: Серія Екологія, 2017
The problem of building the field of radiation background on the place according to the measurements taken at a finite number of points is always actual. Purpose. Elaboration a new regression model for constructing the radiation background field. Methods.

Incidence and Severity of Carboplatin‐Associated Hearing Loss in Children With Cancer Assessed by the SIOP Boston 2012 Ototoxicity Criteria

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Platinum‐based chemotherapy is known to cause severe and debilitating hearing loss, but unlike cisplatin, the true incidence of carboplatin‐induced hearing loss remains unclear. We evaluated functional hearing outcomes in children receiving carboplatin to determine the incidence and severity of ototoxicity. Procedure We identified a
