Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Innovative aerosol hygroscopic growth study from Mie–Raman–fluorescence lidar and microwave radiometer synergy [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques
This study focuses on the characterization of aerosol hygroscopicity using remote sensing techniques. We employ a Mie–Raman–fluorescence lidar (Lille Lidar for Atmospheric Study, LILAS), developed at the ATOLL platform, Laboratoire d'Optique ...

Microstructure‐Controlled Crack Propagation and Fracture Resistance in MoSiBTiC Alloy Revealed by Multiscale Extended Finite Element Method Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐dimensional multiscale finite element analysis framework was established for the first‐generation MoSiBTiC alloy, and the mechanical and fracture‐related parameters of the constituent phases were calibrated through experiments and simulations. The framework provides a basis for analyzing crack propagation behavior in its complex microstructure ...

LABELING OF CLUSTERS BASED ON CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF TEXTURE MEASURES [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2013
It is well known that unsupervised classification of a single polarized SAR image is accomplished mainly by two steps i.e., (i) Clustering the SAR image into groups or clusters on the basis of backscattering coefficient and textures present in SAR image,

Effect of Texture on Ultrasonic Backscattering Coefficient in Pure Titanium Plate

open access: yes, 1996
Ultrasonic grain noise is one of the important factors which limit the detectability of small defects. The intensity of the grain noise may be represented by the ultrasonic backscattering coefficient which directly relates microstructure to the grain ...

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Ultrasonic characterisation of malignant melanoma of choroid

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 1998
An in-vitro study of wave spectral analysis in 8 enucleated eyes was conducted in order to differentiate histological subtypes of malignant melanoma. To obtain the backscattering coefficient for the tissues, we used a broadband focussed transducer with a

Retrieval and analysis of the composition of an aerosol mixture through Mie–Raman–fluorescence lidar observations [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques
In the atmosphere, aerosols can originate from numerous sources, leading to the mixing of different particle types. This paper introduces an approach to the partitioning of aerosol mixtures in terms of backscattering coefficients.

Contactless Antenna Gain Pattern Estimation From Backscattering Coefficient Measurement Performed Within Reverberation Chambers

open access: yes, 2021
International audienceThis paper presents the antenna gain pattern estimation from backscattering coefficient measurement performed within a reverberation chamber (RC). The antenna backscattering coefficient is measured for two load conditions, namely an
