Influence of on-site low-ureolysis bacteria and high-ureolysis bacteria on the effectiveness of MICP processes [PDF]
Microbially Induced Calcium Carbonate Precipitation (MICP) is an eco-friendly technique that enhances soil mechanical properties using urease-producing microorganisms, especially Sporosarcina pasteurii. However, field trials often yield suboptimal results due to the presence of indigenous soil microbes.

Mapping Hsp104 interactions using cross‐linking mass spectrometry
This study examines how cross‐linking mass spectrometry can be utilized to analyze ATP‐induced conformational changes in Hsp104 and its interactions with substrates. We developed an analytical pipeline to distinguish between intra‐ and inter‐subunit contacts within the hexameric homo‐oligomer and discovered contacts between Hsp104 and a selected ...

Coinfection in a stochastic model for bacteriophage systems [PDF]
A system modeling bacteriophage treatments with coinfections in a noisy context is analyzed. We prove that in a small noise regime, the system converges in the long term to a bacteria free equilibrium. Moreover, we compare the treatment with coinfection with the treatment without coinfection, showing how the coinfection affects the dose of ...

Alkane biosynthesis gene expression and its increased production in recombinant cyanobacteria
The transcription and mRNA structures of the alkane biosynthesis genes ado/aar were analysed in the representative cyanobacteria PCC 6803 and SK1‐2‐1, which produce C17H36 and C15H32, respectively. PCC 6803 transconjugants carrying these genes showed a 1.8‐ to 2.3‐fold increase in C17H36 production.

Medical Scope of Biofilm and Quorum Sensing during Biofilm Formation: Systematic Review
Biofilms are accumulations of microorganisms in an extracellular polymeric substance matrix which are composed of polysaccharides, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. Many bacteria can switch between a planktonic form and a biofilm form.

Micromanipulation of magnetotactic bacteria with a microelectromagnet matrix [PDF]
Micromanipulation of magnetotactic bacteria with a microelectromagnet matrix was demonstrated. Magnetotactic bacteria synthesize a chain of magnetic nanoparticles inside their body to guide their motion in the geomagnetic field. A microelectromagnet matrix consists of two arrays of lithographically patterned wires, one array perpendicular to the other,

The C. elegans tetraspanin‐7 (tsp‐7) is a homologue of human CD63, which is a negative regulator of autophagy. The C. elegans strain, tm5761, has a dysfunctional (knockout) tsp‐7 gene. When compared to the wild‐type strain, the tm5761 strain shows increased: life‐ and health‐span; thermotolerance, and stress‐induced locomotion.
