Emergence of cfr-Mediated Linezolid Resistance in Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Pig Carcasses

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2020
Altogether, 2547 Staphylococcus aureus isolated from cattle (n = 382), pig (n = 1077), and chicken carcasses (n = 1088) during 2010–2017 were investigated for linezolid resistance and were further characterized using molecular methods.

Antimicrobial Resistance Profiles and Macrolide Resistance Mechanisms of Campylobacter coli Isolated from Pigs and Chickens

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2021
We identified 1218 Campylobacter coli isolates from fecal and carcass samples of pigs (n = 643) and chickens (n = 575) between 2010 and 2018. About 99% of the isolates were resistant to at least one antimicrobial agent.

Real-time PCR biochip for on-site detection of Coxiella burnetii in ticks

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2021
Background Q fever, a zoonosis caused by Coxiella burnetii, has adverse effects on public health. Ticks are vectors of C. burnetii and they contribute to the transmission of the pathogen. A tool for rapid, sensitive, and accurate detection of C. burnetii

Emergence of mcr-3 carrying Escherichia coli in Diseased Pigs in South Korea

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2020
We examined the prevalence and molecular characteristics of mcr-3 carrying colistin-resistant Escherichia coli among cattle, pig, and chicken isolates in South Korea. Among a total of 185 colistin-resistant E.

Expanded geographic distribution for two Legionella pneumophila sequence types of clinical concern

open access: yesmSphere
Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 sequence types (ST) 213 and 222, a single-locus variant of ST213, were first detected in the early 1990s in the Midwest United States (U.S.) and the late 1990s in the Northeast U.S. and Canada.

Prevalence of Bacterial Species in Skin, Urine, Diarrheal Stool, and Respiratory Samples in Cats

open access: yesPathogens, 2022
Bacterial infections are a significant cause of illness and death in different animals. However, these bacterial infections could be a source of human disease or illness if these pathogenic bacteria are present in companion animals.
