The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Impact of feeding by Arenicola marina (L.) and ageing of faecal material on fatty acid distribution and bacterial community structure in marine sediments: An experimental approach [PDF]
The fate of ingested eukaryotic photoautotrophic fatty acids during gut transit in the lugwormArenicolamarina (L.) and the influence of A. marina's faeces on the evolution of fatty acid distribution and bacterial community structure in superficial ...

Regulatory Landscapes of Bacterial DNA Methylation: Mechanism, Dynamics, and Detection
Epigenetics is a widely present mechanism for the modulation of gene expression without alterations in the underlying genetic sequence. Epigenetic signatures are significantly present in bacteria, with DNA methylation playing a key role in the modulation

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Codon Usage Domains over Bacterial Chromosomes [PDF]
The geography of codon bias distributions over prokaryotic genomes and its impact upon chromosomal organization are analyzed. To this aim, we introduce a clustering method based on information theory, specifically designed to cluster genes according to ...

Versatile vector tools for efficient protein screening across multiple expression systems
A unified vector toolkit enables rapid protein expression screening across E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells. A single primer pair amplifies the target gene, which is inserted into any vector via a standardized interface. This streamlined workflow eliminates repeated cloning steps, accelerating the identification of optimal expression conditions for

Dynamic distribution of SeqA protein across the chromosome of Escherichia coli K-12 [PDF]
The bacterial SeqA protein binds to hemi-methylated GATC sequences that arise in newly synthesized DNA upon passage of the replication machinery. In Escherichia coli K-12, the single replication origin oriC is a well-characterized target for SeqA, which ...
