Mycoplasma pneumoniae causes atypical pneumonia in children and young adults. Its lack of a cell wall makes it resistant to beta-lactams, which are the first-line treatment for typical pneumonia.

Abstract Rhodococcus equi is a facultative intracellular pathogen and a major cause of pneumonia in foals worldwide. The standard treatment for affected foals is a combination of a macrolide with rifampicin. The Preparation of Novel Fluorenes Inspired by Hipposudoric Acid

In this research we report on the design and synthesis of a series of fluorene‐based derivatives loosely inspired by the tricyclic framework of hipposudoric acid. Preparation of sixteen novel N‐alkylated derivatives was accomplished via a series of concise one‐step amide N‐alkylation reactions.
