DNA Methylation Shapes Seed‐Borne Microbiome and Proteome Responses During Early Maize‐Beneficial Bacteria Interactions

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microorganism and plant interactions are crucial for development and environmental adaptation. Plant growth promoting bacteria enhance agricultural productivity in a sustainable manner, while epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation regulate gene expression and adaptive responses.

Spectroscopic analysis of bacterial photoreactivation

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, Volume 101, Issue 2, Page 494-504, March/April 2025.
This study investigates the effectiveness of fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy in detecting bacterial photoreactivation. Fluorescence spectroscopy shows limitations, because the intense fluorescence of tryptophan and tyrosine masks fluorescence emitted by thymine molecules.

The development of a process for the production of restructured fish from recovered fish mince : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Technology in Food Technology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Recovery of edible flesh by meat/bone separators The production of fish paste products such as Kamaboko (fish paste) and chukawa (fish sausage) is an ancient tradition in Japan, and it is only recently that the industry has developed into a mass ...

Even a slight temperature increase triggers the inhibition of Symbiodiniaceae cell division and promotes cell expulsion in the coral Acropora selago

open access: yesPhycological Research, EarlyView.
SUMMARY Coral bleaching, characterized by the loss of Symbiodiniaceae symbionts from corals, is promoted both by acute high‐temperature events and by prolonged moderate thermal stress. However, the mechanisms responsible for decreases in Symbiodiniaceae cell densities within corals remain unclear. Symbiodiniaceae cells within corals proliferate through

Morpho‐anatomical and genetic variation of Lithophyllum neo‐okamurae and L. okamurae (Corallinales, Corallinophycidae, Rhodophyta) from Jeju Island, Korea

open access: yesPhycological Research, EarlyView.
SUMMARY Lithophyllum Philippi (Corallinales, Corallinophycidae, Rhodophyta) is a diverse genus of non‐geniculate coralline algae. Lithophyllum neo‐okamurae and L. okamurae are commonly found in the intertidal and subtidal zones of Jeju Island, Korea, where they contribute to local benthic communities.

Bacteriological water quality of Otter Lake

open access: yes, 1971
As part of the 1970 Recreational Lakes Program, a single intensive bacteriological survey was carried out on Otter Lake in the District of Parry Sound. Otter Lake is a stellate-shaped lake which receives water from many small streams and flows to the north-east with the major outflow being the Boyne River. The lake has no towns or villages on its shore

A study of bacteria found in the distribution system of a water plant [PDF]

open access: yes, 1947
One of the basic bacteriological findings used in helping to determine the quality and safeness of drinking water is the agar plate count. Raw water samples show the kind of water entering the plant and are a fair indicator of the treatment that will be ...

Efficacy of 0.2% povidone‐iodine and 0.1% polyhexamethylene biguanide as preoperative antiseptics in equine ophthalmic procedures

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 438-447, March 2025.
Abstract Objective This retrospective study evaluates the efficacy of povidone‐iodine (PI) and polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) as preoperative antiseptics in equine ophthalmic procedures. Animals Studied Horses that underwent routine ophthalmic surgery and procedures.

Bacteriological water quality of Cameron Lake

open access: yes, 1971
During the five-day survey of Cameron Lake, August 17 to 21, 1970, the water was acceptable for recreational use. However, a cautionary note must be included to indicate a possible discharge of fecal material through the soil with a time lag between peak cottager population and appearance of pollution in the water.
