Toxoplasma gondii infection in Bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus) in China

Veterinary Parasitology, 2013
Camel is important to the economy of many countries. We report Toxoplasma gondii infection in Bactrian camels (Camelus bactrianus), first for this host. Antibodies to T. gondii were found in sera of 7 of 234 C. bactrianus from Qinghai Province, northwestern China. Sera were tested by a commercial indirect hemagglutination test at a cut-off of 1:64. Y-chromosome polymorphisms of the domestic Bactrian camel in China

Journal of Genetics, 2018
Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), microsatellites and copy number variation (CNV) were studied on the Y chromosome to understand the paternal origin and phylogenetic relationships for resource protection, rational development and utilization of the domestic Bactrian camel in China.

Senile plaques in an aged two-humped (Bactrian) camel ( Camelus bactrianus )

Acta Neuropathologica, 1995
Senile plaques with beta-protein as a major constituent are a conspicuous feature in the brains of aged humans, monkeys, dogs, and bears. We found cerebral senile plaques of the diffuse and primitive type, but not the classical type, in an aged female camel of more than 20 years old. The senile plaques and a few cortical capillaries were immunoreactive

Bactrian Camel Inspired Optimization Algorithm

This paper proposes a novel optimization algorithm inspired by the physiological characteristics and group behavior of Bactrian camels. This algorithm achieves an adaptive balance between local search and global hopping by incorporating a bimodal energy mechanism, an environmental perception mechanism, a migration path memory mechanism, and a dynamic ...

Studies on rickets and osteomalacia in Bactrian camels (Camelus bactrianus)

The Veterinary Journal, 2005
Epidemiological studies have indicated incidences of 32.9% and 27.8% for rickets and osteomalacia, respectively, in Bactrian camels (Camelus bactrianus), but there is an increased incidence under drought conditions, sometimes reaching 75%. We have found that concentrations of phosphorus and copper in forage and soil samples in a drought affected area ...
