The effect of chemical inhomogeneity on the microstructure and properties of nanobainitic steel is investigated. A two‐stage isothermal heat treatment that produced a more uniform microstructure is designed. The first‐stage temperature is higher than the MS of depleted bands; conversely, the second‐stage temperature is lower than the first‐stage ...

New model for the overall transformation kinetics of bainite. Part 2: Validation
A new model for the overall kinetics of the bainite transformation has been validated experimentally. The new model, presented in the 1st part of this work, is based in the displacive mechanism for bainite transformation. Thus, the bainite transformation

ABSTRACT This study demonstrates a new strategy for modifying the boron content to address stress‐relief cracking (SRC) in the 7CrMoVTiB10.10 alloy. First, coarse‐grained heat‐affected zone (CGHAZ) specimens with different boron contents were prepared via simulated welding thermal cycles.

Bainite Transformation Kinetics-Microstructure Characterization of Austempered 4140/4150 Steel
Bainite transformation in steel involves understanding of its kinetics, morphology, and the activation energy. This research studied the characteristics of all three of these aspects for 4140/4150 steel in a wide range of austempring processes, in which ...
