Bainite Transformation in a Silicon Steel.

open access: yesISIJ International, 1997
The processes of upper bainite formation, the crystallographic aspects and the internal structure in a 1.83% silicon steel have been investigated. The T-T-T diagram is separated into two C-curves as in the case of steels containing strong carbide forming elements.

Influence of Tramp Elements on Phase Transformations, Structure, and Properties of Scrap‐Based Steels: A Focused Review of Recent Developments

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This review explains how impurities from recycled scrap affect steel production and performance. Even small amounts (far below 1%) of these impurities can change how steel behaves during fabrication but also affect the properties of the end product. With better understanding and targeted countermeasures, these challenges can be managed, enabling wider ...

Effect of Boron on the Isothermal Bainite Transformation

open access: yes, 2018
The role of Boron on the isothermal bainitic transformation in low-C, lean-alloyed steel was investigated. B clearly affected both the transformation kinetics and the morphology of isothermally transformed bainite.

Tailored Hardening and Isothermal Bainitizing of Additively Manufactured Nitrogen‐Enhanced Martensitic Chromium Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Tailored heat treatments transform additively manufactured high‐nitrogen martensitic Cr steel from austenitic as‐built condition to high‐hardness states. Isothermal bainitizing at 250°C generates an ultrafine nanostructure and achieves higher hardness than conventional hardening and tempering, highlighting a promising postprocessing route for laser ...

Mechanical Property Comparison of AISI 5120 Steel Produced by LENS and DMD Systems

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study compares AISI 5120 steel produced by LENS and DMD processes, revealing trade‐offs in mechanical performance. LENS offers higher surface hardness and impact toughness, while DMD provides superior tensile strength and ductility. Findings guide process selection for application‐specific needs in automotive, aerospace, and heavy machinery ...

Effect of Si on the acceleration of bainite transformation by pre-existing martensite

open access: yes, 2016
Bainite transformation was investigated focusing on the influence of pre-existing martensite on the transformation kinetics, morphology and crystallographic orientation of subsequently formed bainite using EBSD and atom probe tomography. Two 1.1 wt C-3wt.
