Balanced Metric and Berezin Quantization on the Siegel-Jacobi Ball [PDF]
We determine the matrix of the balanced metric of the Siegel-Jacobi ball and its inverse. We calculate the scalar curvature, the Ricci form and the Laplace-Beltrami operator of this manifold.

We examine the various linkings in space-time of “ball-like” and “ring-like” topological solitons in certain nonlinear sigma models in 2+1 and 3+1 dimensions. By going to theories where soliton overlaps are forbidden, these linkings become homotopically nontrivial and can be studied by investigating the topology of the corresponding configuration ...

Ball Covariance: A Generic Measure of Dependence in Banach Space
Technological advances in science and engineering have led to the routine collection of large and complex data objects, where the dependence structure among those objects is often of great interest.

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

A Mass-Spring-Damper Model of a Bouncing Ball [PDF]
The mechanical properties of a vertically dropped ball, represented by an equivalent mass-spring-damper model, are shown to be related to impact parameters.

PASSIVE TORQUE SIMULATION OF SMALL ANGULAR CONTACT BEARING AT HIGH SPEED [PDF]
Description of common ball bearing torque models was presented and adopted to the complex thermo-mechanical model of the high speed spindle. Ball bearing passive torque was measured on the own high-speed spindle design.

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

In the course of his insightful analysis of Act II of Un ballo in maschera, Harold Powers recurs to two critics of earlier generations who hyperbolically describe how, to cite his more measured summary, ‘the drama has turned into music as the opera was being composed.
