The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

The Mechanical Alloying Behavior of Fe2O3 into NiO in the High-Energy Ball-Milling Process
The NiO and Fe2O3 powders were mixed by the high-energy ball-milling, followed by a sintering of the mixture at 1340°C for 0.5 h. XRD, SEM, DSC, and size measurements were preformed to study the microstructure evolution in the high-energy ball-milled ...

Fabrication of aluminum matrix composites reinforced with nano- to micrometer-sized SiC particles [PDF]
In this study, the hot extrusion process was applied to stir cast aluminum matrix–SiC composites in order to improve their microstructure and reduce cast part defects. SiC particles were ball milled with Cr, Cu, and Ti as three forms of carrier agents to
