Fragility Functions for Plasterboard‐Sheathed Walls in Light Timber‐Framed Residential Houses

open access: yesEarthquake Spectra, Volume 42, Issue 4, November 2026.
In New Zealand, plasterboard‐sheathed walls (PSWs) are commonly used as partition walls and seismic bracing walls in low‐rise light timber‐framed (LTF) residential houses. A significant barrier to assessing seismic losses of the LTF residential houses in New Zealand is the lack of fragility functions of these PSWs.

Ka'aguy Mba'apo: Indigenous Illicit Work and Strategic Opacity in the Interstices of the Paraguay–Brazil Border

open access: yesPoLAR: Political and Legal Anthropology Review, Volume 49, Issue 2, November 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines how Indigenous Paĩ Tavyterã/Kaiowa communities along the Paraguay–Brazil border navigate illicit economies that have proliferated amid the expansion of soybean agribusiness and the withdrawal of the state. Drawing on long‐term ethnographic fieldwork in several communities on both sides of the border, it explores how ...

Stand and Landscape Drivers of Trap Captures of the Pine Wilt Disease Vector Monochamus alternatus (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) in the Qinling Mountains

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
This study examines how stand structure and surrounding landscape context influence the trap‐based abundance of Monochamus alternatus, the principal vector of pine wilt disease, in the Qinling Mountains of China. Using pheromone‐trap monitoring, multi‐scale landscape metrics, and multimodel inference, we show that local host composition and fine‐scale ...

Local perceptions of Asiatic black bear conservation in a subsistence agriculture community of Mustang, Nepal

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2026.
Household surveys in Kunjo, Mustang district examined local perceptions of Asiatic black bear conservation, crop damage, and human‐bear interactions. Crop damage was greater near forest edges, while more than half of households have negative attitude towards bear conservation. The findings highlight the importance of incorporating local perceptions and

Dissecting the genetic basis of climatic adaptation in wild relatives (Malus baccata) for climate‐resilient apple breeding

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 10, Page 3705-3726, October 2026.
This comprehensive map of genetic variation in wild apple (Malus baccata) and set of key genes associated with adaptation to temperature, precipitation, and soil properties establishes a foundation for breeding climate‐resilient apple cultivars and conserving the genetic resources of wild crop relatives.

Effect of Soaking Time of Bamboo Shoot and Concentrations of Lime Paste on Quality of Bamboo Shoot Chips

open access: yesSerambi Journal of Agricultural Technology, 2019
<p>The aim of this reserch are to deteremine the effect of lime paste concentration and time soaking, to determine the best condition of making bamboo shoot chips. The resuls of analysis were  processed by using Completely Randomized Design factorial with two repeatation. The lowest water content obtained at the condition of concentration of lime

Consistent root microbiomes across contrasting habitats in a wild perennial vine

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 28, Issue 6, Page 1880-1898, October 2026.
Communities of bacteria and fungi associated with the roots are similar across diverse habitats in a wild plant. Abstract While we are beginning to understand that the plant microbiome is important for plant health, we still lack information about how plant microbiomes are shaped across environments and how they influence plant performance, in ...
