Host plant resistance is an important tool in the management of the banana weevil Cosmopolites sordidus (Germar). Although ovipositing females do not discriminate between resistant and susceptible cultivars, plants of resistant cultivars have smaller larval populations and sustain less damage in the field.

Studies on the banana borer weevil in Cameroun
2002In Cameroon, bananas and plantains are major staple food for a large proportion of the population. A total of 1.7 million tonnes are produced annually.
