The energy band alignment of Si nanocrystals in SiO2 [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2011
The determination of the energy band alignment between the 2.6-nm-diameter Si nanocrystals and the SiO2 host is achieved by means of photo-ionization/-neutralization and capacitance spectroscopy. The measured conduction and valence band offsets are 2.6 eV and 4.4 eV. The band gap is evaluated to be 1.7 eV by photoluminescence.

Bias dependent band alignment in Ga2O3 ferroelectric interface by operando HAXPES [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
We present a fundamental study of the band alignment at the interface of HfZrO4 (HZO) with Ge-doped Ga2O3. Ge is an alternative n-type dopant for the wide band gap Ga2O3 due to its shallow donor level and favorable MBE growth conditions.

Band alignment of B0.14Al0.86N/Al0.7Ga0.3N heterojunction [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2017
Owing to large bandgaps of BAlN and AlGaN alloys, their heterojunctions have the potential to be used in deep ultraviolet and power electronic device applications. However, the band alignment of such junctions has not been identified. In this work, we investigated the band-offset parameters of a B0.14Al0.86 N/Al0.7Ga0.3N heterojunction grown by ...

Band alignment engineering at ultra-wide bandgap GeO2/SiO2 heterointerfaces

open access: yesResults in Physics
Owing to the tremendous contribution for the carrier transport across the interface, the band alignment engineering in oxide semiconductor heterojunctions (OSHs) is of vital importance for developing oxide semiconductor optoelectronic devices.

Efficient photodegradation activity of α-Fe2O3/Fe2TiO5/TiO2 and Fe2TiO5/TiO2 nanocomposites synthesized from natural ilmenite

open access: yesResults in Materials, 2021
Photocatalysis is an attractive widely used environmental remediation technique. Ternary (α-Fe2O3/Fe2TiO5/TiO2) and binary (Fe2TiO5/TiO2) nanocomposites were successfully synthesized by using natural ilmenite sand as the raw material.

PbTe Quantum Dots and Engineering of the Energy Band Alignment in Photovoltaic Applications

open access: yesSüleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi Fen Dergisi, 2021
Lead telluride (PbTe) quantum dots, despite being considered as one of the most promising candidates for future photovoltaics owing to their higher multiple exciton generation yields, have received limited attention in solar cell designs due their less ...

Tuning band alignment and optical properties of 2D van der Waals heterostructure via ferroelectric polarization switching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Favourable band alignment and excellent visible light response are vital for photochemical water splitting. In this work, we have theoretically investigated how ferroelectric polarization and its reversibility in direction can be utilized to modulate the
