Band Gap Engineering with Ultralarge Biaxial Strains in Suspended Monolayer MoS2. [PDF]
We demonstrate the continuous and reversible tuning of the optical band gap of suspended monolayer MoS2 membranes by as much as 500 meV by applying very large biaxial strains.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Band-Gap Engineering in two-dimensional periodic photonic crystals
A theoretical investigation is made of the dispersion characteristics of plasmons in a two-dimensional periodic system of semiconductor (dielectric) cylinders embedded in a dielectric (semiconductor) background.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

High quality GaN films on miscut (111) diamond substrates through non-c orientation suppression
The GaN films are grown on 4° miscut to (110) and (100) orientation (111) diamond substrates by metal organic chemical vapor deposition respectively. The ordinary (111) diamond substrate is used as reference.

Efficiency of tunable band-gap structures for single-photon emission
The efficiency of recently proposed single-photon emitting sources based on tunable planar band-gap structures is examined. The analysis is based on the study of the total and ``radiative'' decay rates, the expectation value of emitted radiation energy ...

Fabrication of photonic band-gap crystals [PDF]
We describe the fabrication of three-dimensional photonic crystals using a reproducible and reliable procedure consisting of electron beam lithography followed by a sequence of dry etching steps.

Observation of tunable band gap and anisotropic Dirac semimetal state in black phosphorus [PDF]
Tuning the band gap of black phosphorus Most materials used in electronics are semiconductors. The sizable energy gap in their electronic structure makes it easy to turn the conduction of electricity on and off.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

High mobility Ge pMOSFETs with amorphous Si passivation: impact of surface orientation
We report the amorphous Si passivation of Ge pMOSFETs fabricated on (001)-, (011)-, and (111)-orientated surfaces for advanced CMOS and thin film transistor applications.
