Dimension Reduction for Hyperspectral Remote Sensor Data Based on Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm and Game Theory

open access: yesSensors, 2019
Information entropy and interclass separability are adopted as the evaluation criteria of dimension reduction for hyperspectral remote sensor data. However, it is rather single-faceted to simply use either information entropy or interclass separability ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Research on the Inversion Method of Dust Content on Mining Area Plant Canopies Based on UAV-Borne VNIR Hyperspectral Data

open access: yesDrones
Monitoring dust on plant canopies around open-pit coal mines is crucial to assessing environmental pollution and developing effective dust suppression strategies.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

KDANet: a farmland extraction network using band selection and dual attention fusion – a case study of paddy fields and irrigated land in Qingtongxia, China

open access: yesGeocarto International
Food security is a critical global issue, and accurate monitoring of farmland is essential to address this challenge. However, farmland extraction accuracy is often hindered by variations in land types and scales.

Problem-based band selection for hyperspectral images [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017
This paper addresses the band selection of a hyperspectral image. Considering a binary classification, we devise a method to choose the more discriminating bands for the separation of the two classes involved, by using a simple algorithm: single-layer neural network. After that, the most discriminative bands are selected, and the resulting reduced data

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Incorporating band selection in the spatial selection of spectral endmembers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Earth Observations and Geoinformation, 2020
The impact of band selection on endmember selection is seldom explored in the analysis of hyperspectral imagery. This study incorporates the N-dimensional Spectral Solid Angle (NSSA) band selection tool into the Spectral-Spatial Endmember Extraction ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...
