Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Analysis of genetic variation among Pummelo (Citrus maxima (Burm) Merrill) cv. Hom Hat Yai and indigenous in Songkhla province based on RAPD markers [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2003
RAPD technique was used to detect genetic variation among 85 samples of pummelo (Citrus maxima (Burm) Merrill) cv. Hom Hat Yai from different sites in Songkhla province. The genotypes analysed included 15 accessions of indigenous pummelo.

Banded karyotype of the Konya wild sheep (Ovis orientalis anatolica Valenciennes, 1856) from Turkey

open access: yesComparative Cytogenetics, 2011
The karyotype, C-banding, and nucleoar organizer regions (NORs) of eight specimens of Konya wild sheep from Turkey were examined. The complement included six large metacentric autosomes, 46 acrocentric autosomes of decreasing size, a medium-sized ...

Highly Variable Genomic Landscape of Endogenous Retroviruses in the C57BL/6J Inbred Strain, Depending on Individual Mouse, Gender, Organ Type, and Organ Location. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Transposable repetitive elements, named the "TREome," represent ~40% of the mouse genome. We postulate that the germ line genome undergoes temporal and spatial diversification into somatic genomes in conjunction with the TREome activity.

Banding patterns in human glioma cell lines [PDF]

open access: yesHereditas, 2009
G- and C-banding techniques were employed in studies of 2 diploid-near-diploid and 2 near-triploid established glioma cell lines. The origin of the marker chromosomes (their number ranging from 5 to 11) included in the stemline karyotypes could be almost completely clarified.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Concepts of Drift and Selection in “The Great Snail Debate” of the 1950s and Early 1960s [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Recently, much philosophical discussion has centered on the best way to characterize the concepts of random drift and natural selection, and, in particular, on the question of whether selection and drift can be conceptually distinguished (Beatty 1984 ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Karyotype characteristics and COI gene data of Chironomus degelenus Seisebaev, Bakhtin & Siirin, 2001 (Diptera, Chironomidae) from the Eastern Caucasus (Dagestan) and its relationship with the Nearctic species Chironomus atrella (Townes, 1945) [PDF]

open access: yesCaucasiana
This study provides new details on the karyotype characteristics, chromosomal polymorphism, and COI gene data of the Dipteran species Chironomus degelenus from the Eastern Caucasus. This is the first record of Ch.
