Women's work and agricultural productivity gaps in India

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Most studies on gender gaps in agricultural productivity leverage within‐household differences between plots managed by women and men. Such a gender‐based division of plot management simplifies empirical tests for productivity differences, but it is not a common arrangement outside some locations in sub‐Saharan Africa. In most rural households,

Using synthetic farm data to estimate individual nitrate leaching levels

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract This article delineates a synthetic population generation scheme in an attempt to estimate individual nitrate leaching rates among Greek farms in the region of Thessaly. The proposed scheme relies upon the construction of a Bayesian network describing farming activities in the region, which, coupled with the use of nonparametric regression ...

Neural Two‐Level Monte Carlo Real‐Time Rendering

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We introduce an efficient Two‐Level Monte Carlo (subset of Multi‐Level Monte Carlo, MLMC) estimator for real‐time rendering of scenes with global illumination. Using MLMC we split the shading integral into two parts: the radiance cache integral and the residual error integral that compensates for the bias of the first one.
