Priority-based bandwidth allocation in wireless sensor networks
In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) a set of motes monitors the environment by measuring some physical phenomena such as humidity, light, temperature, vibrations. The coexistence of different data types arises the problem of assigning the network resources

Optimal Nash Equilibria for Bandwidth Allocation [PDF]
In bandwidth allocation, competing agents wish to transmit data along paths of links in a network, and each agent's utility is equal to the minimum bandwidth she receives among all links in her desired path. Recent market mechanisms for this problem have either focused on only Nash welfare, or ignored strategic behavior.

In this work, we propose an improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and develop an improved PSO‐relevance vector machine (RVM) model as a substitute for traditional true‐triaxial testing. The model's high prediction accuracy was validated through comparisons with two other machine learning methods and five three‐dimensional Hoek–Brown type

Globalisation, Financialisation and Endogenous Thresholds for Premature Deindustrialisation
ABSTRACT We investigate the pattern and determinants of premature deindustrialisation (PD) for a large panel of advanced, emerging and developing economies. We consider the impacts of international financial integration (de facto financial globalisation), capital account openness (de jure financial globalisation) and financialisation which are often ...

Design of zone-based bandwidth management scheme in IEEE 802.16 multi-hop relay networks
IEEE 802.16 Wireless Network technology is a hot research issue in recent years. It provides wider coverage of radio and higher speed wireless access, and Quality-of-Service plays an important part in the standard.

Determinants of FinTech Equity Funding Flows: Evidence From a Global Perspective
ABSTRACT This study explores the factors affecting FinTech (Financial technology startups) equity financing and deals. Traditional and alternative financing are currently progressing together; however, alternative financing remains underexplored. Using panel data from 57 countries in 2010 to 2020 and one‐step difference generalised method of moments ...

Exchange Rate Risk and Deviations From Purchasing Power Parity
ABSTRACT This paper proposes a new solution to the purchasing power parity (PPP) puzzles, arguing that investors' higher‐order risk attitudes, combined with higher‐order uncertainty about nominal exchange rates, as reflected by skewness and kurtosis, drive a risk premium that leads to deviations from PPP.

On fairness in Bandwidth Allocation
For over a decade, the Nash bargaining solution (NBS) concept from cooperative game theory has been used in networks as a concept that allows one to share resources fairly. Due to its many appealing properties, it has recently been used for assigning bandwidth in a general topology network between applications that have linear utilities. In this paper,

ABSTRACT Small‐scale irrigation represents a highly effective system designed to enhance production and productivity, mitigate risks associated with rainfall variability and increase the income of rural farm households. This study was conducted to analyse small‐scale irrigation impact on household income and assess the challenges and opportunities in ...
