Temporal and between-site variation in helminth communities of bank voles (Myodes glareolus) from N.E. Poland: 2. The infracommunity level [PDF]
The relative importance of temporal and spatial effects was assessed in helminth communities of bank voles (Myodes glareolus) in 3 woodland sites in N.E. Poland in the late summers of 1999 and 2002.

Wildlife in urban areas is often a source of conflict, yet relatively few efforts have been directed toward fostering coexistence in these human‐dominated landscapes. While previous research has focused on socio‐demographic factors influencing perceptions of wildlife, the role of specific animal traits in shaping acceptance remains underexplored.

Quantifying whether different demographic models produce incongruent results on population dynamics of two long-term studied rodent species [PDF]
1. Population density (ind/ha) of long-term (>15 years) series of CMR populations, using distinct demographic models designed for both open and closed populations, were analysed for two sympatric species of rodents (Myodes glareolus and ...

Adjustable reach in a network centrality based on current flows
Centrality, which quantifies the "importance" of individual nodes, is among the most essential concepts in modern network theory. Most prominent centrality measures can be expressed as an aggregation of influence flows between pairs of nodes.

Rapid generation of prion disease models using AAV‐delivered PrP variants in knockout mice
We developed a rapid AAV‐based system to generate prion disease models in weeks rather than months. Following systemic AAV9P31 delivery of modified PrP to knockout mice, we achieved brain‐wide expression and successful propagation of both classical (RML) and atypical (GSS‐A117V) prion strains.

Prion protein amino acid determinants of differential susceptibility and molecular feature of prion strains in mice and voles. [PDF]
The bank vole is a rodent susceptible to different prion strains from humans and various animal species. We analyzed the transmission features of different prions in a panel of seven rodent species which showed various degrees of phylogenetic affinity ...

A single amino acid change (L108I) combined with PrP overexpression drives spontaneous atypical prion formation in mice, enabling also efficient propagation of diverse prion strains. This model allows studying how spontaneous prion diseases arise and provides powerful tools for investigating strain emergence, transmission barriers, and mechanisms ...

Identification of Two Novel Members of the Tentative Genus Wukipolyomavirus in Wild Rodents. [PDF]
Two novel polyomaviruses (PyVs) were identified in kidney and chest-cavity fluid samples of wild bank voles (Myodes glareolus) and common voles (Microtus arvalis) collected in Germany.

The impacts of biological invasions
ABSTRACT The Anthropocene is characterised by a continuous human‐mediated reshuffling of the distributions of species globally. Both intentional and unintentional introductions have resulted in numerous species being translocated beyond their native ranges, often leading to their establishment and subsequent spread – a process referred to as biological

Duration of spermatogenesis in the vole ( Microtus agrestis ) and bank vole ( Clethrionomys glareolus ) [PDF]
Department of Agricultural Science, University of Oxford, U.K. The duration of the cycle of the seminiferous epithelium is a fundamental parameter of spermatogenesis in mammals (Heller & Clermont, 1964). Its measurement in the field vole (Microtus agrestis) could clarify the way in which seasonal changes in spermatogenesis in this
