Molecular Detection, Epidemiology and Genetic Diversity of Babesia microti Infecting Wild Rodents
Blood samples from 284 rodents captured across seven districts of Pakistan were screened for Babesia microti using 18S rRNA PCR. Overall prevalence was 12%, with infection detected in Rattus rattus, Mus musculus and Rattus norvegicus. Phylogenetic analysis showed close similarity with global isolates.

The populations of many deer species across Europe are widely reported to be increasing, leading to potentially greater impacts on forest ecosystems.
