The conjugation of carbohydrates to a phospholipid backbone can be catalyzed via a transphosphatidylation reaction with phospholipase D (PLD). The illustration highlights the conjugation sites identified in this study for three common monosaccharides: glucose, fructose, and xylose.

Barchan‐Barchan Dune Repulsion Investigated at the Grain Scale
AbstractBarchans are eolian dunes of crescent shape found on Earth, Mars and other celestial bodies. Among the different types of barchan‐barchan interaction, there is one, known as chasing, in which the dunes remain close but without touching each other.

On the crescentic shape of barchan dunes [PDF]
Aeolian sand dunes originate from wind flow and sand bed interactions. According to wind properties and sand availability, they can adopt different shapes, ranging from huge motion-less star dunes to small and mobile barchan dunes. The latter are crescentic and emerge under a unidirectional wind, with a low sand supply.

Abstract The study of planetary surface processes has traditionally relied on the manual interpretation of spacecraft images. While manual image analysis methods are robust and well‐established, they become impractical when the volume of available data is large and may introduce observer bias.

Point locations for spatial and morphological analyses of barchans in swarms
This dataset contains the long-lat coordinates of seven points on ~6000 barchans located in six swarms. Four of the locations are on Earth (three in the Tarfaya region of the Western Sahara, one in Mauritania).

Terrestrial Analogs to Titan for Geophysical Research
Abstract Saturn's moon Titan exhibits remarkable parallels to the Earth in many geophysical and geological processes not found elsewhere in the solar system at the present day. These include a nitrogen atmosphere with a condensible gas—methane—replacing the Earth's water, leading to an active meteorology with rainfall and surface manifestations ...

ABSTRACT The Gollum Channel System is a land‐detached large‐scale canyon‐channel system situated offshore southwest Ireland on the Northeast Atlantic margin. The system has been considered inactive with downslope gravity flows since the last glacial period, but geophysical data in some of its branches do suggest Holocene activity.

The Sources of Moisture in the Sand Dunes – The Example of the Western Sahara Dune Field
Climatic and meteorological conditions may limit the aeolian transport within barchans. An explanation of that issue was the main goal of the investigation held in Western Sahara dune fields located around Tarfaya and Laâyoune.
