Dissolution, Reconfiguration and Formation: Decarbonisation Effects on Regional Industrial Interpath Dynamics

open access: yesTijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie, EarlyView.
Abstract Decarbonising mature industries is crucial for achieving overall carbon neutrality. This article provides an interpath dynamics perspective on how mature industries' decarbonisation paths affect interconnected industries via three key interpath transformation dynamics: interpath dissolution, reconfiguration and formation.

‘Grinning and bearing it’—A survey study exploring animal‐related injuries in UK and Irish veterinary students

open access: yesVeterinary Record Open, Volume 13, Issue 2, December 2026.
Abstract Background While veterinary surgeons are known to have particularly high rates of injury compared to other sectors, little is known about the rates of injury among veterinary students. This study aims to understand animal‐related injury rates, injury context and mechanisms, attitudes to reporting injuries, and resultant behaviour among UK and ...

Capability and Limitations of a Tuned Mass Damper for a 15‐MW Semisubmersible Floating Wind Turbine

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 29, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Large floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) under coupled aerodynamic and hydrodynamic loading exhibit broadband low‐frequency response in addition to the platform‐pitch resonance. Tuned mass dampers (TMDs) have been studied for a range of applications, but their net benefit under fully coupled operational conditions has not been quantified.

A Genomic Tool to Tackle Cryptic Diversity Demonstrates the Potential for Off‐Target Use of GT‐Seq Panels

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 26, Issue 7, October 2026.
ABSTRACT A comprehensive understanding of life history is vital to successful species conservation and management. When different life history stages are accompanied by considerable morphological or cryptic variation, such as the egg and larval phases exhibited by most fishes, genomic tools are essential for identifying species so that early‐life ...

Length‐Based Spawning Potential Ratio Assessment of Key Species From a Remote Recreational Fishery at Diego Garcia, Indian Ocean

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 977-989, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Recreational fisheries in remote regions often operate under limited regulation and data availability, presenting challenges for sustainable management. Diego Garcia, located within the Chagos Marine Protected Area, hosts a unique recreational reef fishery embedded within a highly protected environment. We assessed the stock status of five key

Preparing for Delivery of Patient Falls Prevention Education in Hospitals: The Consumer Perspective

open access: yesHealth Expectations, Volume 29, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Falls in hospital are a serious risk to older patients' recovery. Patient education programmes that provide falls prevention advice are recommended. Garnering the perspectives of older adults about implementing such programmes could improve how health professionals engage with hospital patients to educate them and increase patient ...

Transcriptional responses of Aedes aegypti chemosensory tissues in response to volatile DEET and citronella oil

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 35, Issue 5, Page 526-540, October 2026.
Aedes aegypti females were significantly repelled by both volatile DEET and citronella oil in comparison to control (ethanol‐exposed) mosquitoes. Global gene expression changes were largest in the mosquito mouthparts, with notable downregulation of the three subunits comprising the mosquito CO2 receptor (Gr1, 2 and 3).

Defining the Power and Energy Demands from Ships at Anchorage for Offshore Power Supply Solutions

open access: yesEnergies
The maritime industry, following several conventions, regulations, and initiatives, is trying to adapt and limit its GHG and other local polluting emissions. A crucial aspect of these decarbonisation efforts is the provision of electric energy to vessels,
