Mid- to Late-Quaternary evolution of the Wilderness Barrier dunes, South Africa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Barrier dunes represent potentially long-term, but complex, archives of coastal evolution. The examples occupying the Wilderness embayment, on the southern Cape coast of South Africa, form a regionally unique system of three shore-parallel barriers ...

Effect of Schottky barrier height on EL2 measurement by deep-level transient spectroscopy

open access: yes, 1988
A systematic study of EL2 midgap trap in GaAs using deep-level transient spectroscopy (DLTS) is reported for contacts having a large range of Schottky barrier height. The results show that the DLTS signal of EL2 increases as the barrier height rises from

Interlayer Expansion of Bulk MoS2 via Top‐Down Organic Pillaring Enables Tunable Li+ Intercalation and Controlled Solvent Co‐Intercalation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Top‐down organic pillaring expands the interlayer spacing of bulk‐sized MoS2 particles while preserving the bulk morphology. Operando X‐ray diffraction and electrochemical dilatometry show that MoS2‐bulk undergoes solvent co‐intercalation in diglyme electrolyte, causing large structural expansion, while pillared, expanded MoS2 suppresses solvent uptake

Enhancement of Gold on n-InGaAs Schottky Barrier Height by Using a thin p-InP Layer

open access: yes, 1994
In this study, we demonstrate the enhancement of n-In0.53Ga0.47A s Schottky barrier height by using a thin (300-1800 Å) p-InP surface layer. An increase in the barrier height of 0.46 eV, making the total barrier height 0.66 eV, was obtained in a Au/p-InP/

Mesoscale Domain Evolution Mechanism during Alternating Current (AC) Poling of Relaxor Ferroelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric domain variants that are energetically equivalent are expected to remain preserved during polarization reversal. However, phase‐field simulations reveal that inclined domain walls in relaxor ferroelectrics can undergo irreversible elimination during alternating current poling through a proximity effect driven by long‐range elastic ...

Control of barrier height of MIS tunnel diodes using deep level impurities

open access: yes, 1991
The barrier height of MIS tunnel diodes is studied considering the effect of deep impurities. It is shown that the barrier height of a given MIS-system can be controlled by changing the density and the activation energy of the defect level.

Genipin‐Crosslinked, Silane‐Anchored 3D Tumor–Stroma Microtissues for High‐Content On‐Chip Drug Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We describe a microfluidic tumor‐stroma co‐culture model, engineered to resist collagen‐hydrogel contraction driven by fibroblast activity. Surface silanization with APTES covalently anchors the matrix to the chip, while Genipin crosslinking progressively increases stiffness and elasticity without harming cells. This supports >10 days of co‐culture and
